Hezbullah to release attack tape of Goldwasser and Regev's humvee

With IDF soldiers' Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev's bodies to be returned to Israel tomorrow, the Lebanese daily Al-Akhbar has some details of the attack on the pair's humvee transport on July 12, 2006.

According to the Tuesday report, the Hizbullah force consisted of several groups, including a unit that fired rockets at Regev and Goldwasser's armored vehicle and another that provided small arms cover.

The paper also quoted "reliable sources" as saying that one of the soldiers was definitely killed during the operation. They could not say what the condition of the second soldier was.

The Jerusalem Post could not confirm the report.

According to sources quoted by the paper, the Hizbullah attack force infiltrated Israel and transferred the captured soldiers to a nearby hiding place in a non-military vehicle.

They were then moved to another vehicle, at which point, the paper claimed, it became clear that one of the soldiers had been killed.

According to the report, Hizbullah men doused the damaged IDF armored vehicle in benzene and set it alight so as to hinder the army investigation of the incident.

The paper also claimed that the group filmed the attack in its entirety and was considering whether or not to release the tape.
It has been widely reported in Israel that one of the two was killed during the attack and the other was critically wounded.

Despite the opposition of the intelligence community, due to the lack of information in the report on Ron Arad, the cabinet voted 22-3 on Tuesday to complete the terrorists for corpses deal with Hezbullah. The same three ministers - Justice Minister Daniel Friedmann, Finance Minister Ronnie Bar On and Housing and Construction Minister Zev Boim - voted against the deal as they did the first time it came to the cabinet for approval.

Only three honest men in Israel - may G-d curse the rest and make an end of them and make their name a byword among the nations!
