Hezbullah has chemicals to make nerve and mustard gas?

Arutz Sheva has a report from the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Siyasa that Hezbullah has the chemicals required to make nerve and mustard gas, which can be loaded into missiles supplied to them by Syria and Iran.
Adding further weight to Defense Minister Barak's declaration [that UN Security Council Resolution 1701 is a failure. CiJ] is an article in the Kuwaiti daily Al-Siyasa, which reported Monday that Hizbullah has acquired chemicals needed to make weapons such as nerve gas or mustard gas from North Korean suppliers. The Lebanese terrorist organization is allegedly preparing to arm its Katyusha rockets with such chemical warheads. Echoing Barak's claims, the Kuwaiti paper also stated that the assistance of Syria and Iran has been crucial in Hizbullah's efforts to acquire chemical weapons capabilities. The Al-Siyasa report was based on intelligence provided to the Kuwaiti paper by Syrian opposition figures in the United States.

Other Arab sources also indicate Hizbullah is entrenching itself for another attack on Israel. The organization is reportedly stockpiling "truckloads" of building materials, such as steel and concrete, in order to restore and expand the terrorists' network of fortifications in southern Lebanon.

Beirut-based Dalal Steel Industries, a leading manufacturer of steel-reinforced buildings, reported that it has provided Hizbullah with substantial bunker-building and other materials. The company told Arab media that it had been shipping Hizbullah orders southwards towards Israel's border. The underground bunkers used by Hizbullah, usually hidden by natural cover such as trees and foliage, were coined "nature reserves" by the IDF in the 2006 Second Lebanon War, and they proved difficult targets to find and destroy.
Meanwhile, the average Israeli has no gas masks and no prospects of getting them anytime soon.

UPDATE 11:41 AM

Actually, we already knew a year ago that Hezbullah had chemicals for making weapons. They have biological weapons too.

This is one thing I never understood. Why the hell the IAF didn't use Napalm (or whatever it is today that they use) to burn down all these 'nature reserves'. This would have dramatically changed the face of the Second Lebanon war. For two reasons:

1: Hizb'allah couldn't hide in between trees and leaving missiles under bushes around the forest would be a disaster as the forest would have become a powder keg.

2: The second is all these bunker systems would then become tombs. As the fire would burn up all there oxygen and easily fill up the tunnels with smoke due to the area of effect nature of these weapons.

Also considering this statement about chemical weapons the use of flame based weapons is even more critical due to the fact that any stock bombed on purpose or inadvertently would be burned up.

Excellent observation, Manker.
I suspect that the IDF didn't scorch the foliage for the same 2 reasons that have been hampering the actions of our security forces since the Oslo "Intifada": legal wrangling - both national and international - and "world opinion", even if the world condemns us without provocation or based on enemy propaganda.

BTW - the Syrians have had stockpiles of VX nerve gas for years.

The Olmert-Barak-Livni-Yishai government doesn't want attention drawn to the fact it bungled the last war. Israel's leaders have no idea how to defeat Hezbollah and don't want to and they've decided capitulation to the terror's group demands is from their perspective, the least bad of all the bad options. So don't look for the current Israeli government to instigate another military confrontation any time soon - and I don't think any one in the IDF would go and fight for this government.

"Work accidents" with nerve and mustard gas are going to be a lot more dangerous. Can Hezbullah handle it?
