'A minister for a minister'

Hamas leader Mushir al-Masri threatened this evening that it will assassinate an Israeli minister for every Hamas minister that Israel assassinates.
"Any Israeli stupidity of targeting Hamas leaders or ministers, Hamas will likewise take action," Mushir al-Masri said in a statement reported by the DPA news agency.

"Vis-à-vis the Israeli threats to target ministers, Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh or any other leader, [Hamas's armed wing] would treat the Israelis on the principle of head for head and minister for minister."

Al-Masri was responding to threats by Israeli officials that Hamas leaders may be targeted if attacks on Israel by its operatives in the Gaza Strip continue.

An Israeli minister was assassinated and Israel still continues to negotiate with those who seek the country's destruction. The murder of a Jew, even a prominent one, is no longer a "red line" for the Israeli government.

With today's Israeli cabinet, I view this as a win-win situation.
