The story of the day that most of the Israeli media is ignoring

There was a demonstration last night in downtown Jerusalem. It was a demonstration against the Annapolis conference mugging. There were 'thousands' of people there. But you won't find it on the websites of the Jerusalem Post, YNet or Haaretz. Only Arutz Sheva thought the story worthy of coverage. Fortunately, they posted lots of pictures so you all can see for yourselves that yes, there were a lot of people there. Here's one of the many pictures. The sign reads "The Olmert Abu Bluff Agreement will blow up in our faces."

Here's part of what went on last night:
The mass demonstration began with a [torch-lit. CiJ] march from the U.S. Consulate to the King David Hotel, where the three were meeting to discuss plans for the upcoming U.S.-sponsored Middle East summit to be held in Annapolis.

...

MK Yuval Steinitz (Likud) [Chairman of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee. CiJ] spoke at the rally, saying, “Ehud [Olmert], Ehud [Barak], and Tzipi [Livni] are deceiving an entire people and leading all of us to the Annapolis trap while ignoring the facts on the ground.”

Steinitz derided plans to divide Jerusalem between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, saying that such plans “would bring bloody riots in the Old City in place of peace.”
Read the whole thing and view the pictures.

Where was I last night? I didn't even know about the demonstration! There was not a single sign in my neighborhood giving notice of it. Someone may have sent me an email, but to be honest with you I get so many emails and I am so busy that 90% of the non-spam email never gets read. If any of you had it on your blogs, I am sorry I missed it!

I have always thought that Steinitz would make an excellent PM, certainly a fantastic Min. of Defense. Maybe we disgruntled Israelis should start a movement to push him into the driver's seat. We need him - now!

Meron,

I've met Steinitz in person and I agree. But unless your name is Amir Peretz, you have to be a retired member of the General Staff (Matcal) to be defense minister in this country, and Steinitz isn't one.

Carl,

I've got the wire photos all rounded up over my way. It's interesting to see that the press continues to trot out the traditional "right-wing" smear whenever the Jewish people speak out against injustice against their heritage, while bending over backwards to portray the murderous thugs of "palestine" as being the peacemakers.

Ehud's juvenile little outburst afterwards also merits a VERY LARGE mention. I honestly have NO IDEA why y'all put up with him and the scum that revolve around him. Impeachment is far too kind a punishment for treason such as his.

Regards,
Brian/snapped shot
