Liquid explosives

How many of you remember this suicide bomber, who was caught in July near Tzahal Square in Jerusalem opposite the Old City? I'll bet my eldest daughter, who was in the area when he was caught, remembers him well. It turns out that his capture was nothing short of a miracle.

YNet reported this morning that the bomber who was caught in July in Tzahal (IDF) Square was carrying liquid explosives that could not be detected by a metal detector. The bomber was a member of the 'Popular Resistance Committees,' the same group that is holding kidnapped IDF Corporal Gilad Shalit in the Gaza Strip. YNet also says that a similar bomb was found in Ramallah but gives no details.

I don't know whether this explosive is related to the explosives that were to be used by British bombers on commercial flights to the United States in August (I have not seen this speculation anyplace else - this is me speculating), but it's entirely possible.
