The largest joint missile defense drill evah....

JPost is reporting exclusively that the United States and Israel are planning to hold the largest joint missile defense drill ever later this year in response to the growing threat from Iran.
The exercise, called Juniper Cobra, will be held in Israel and will include the newly developed Arrow 2, as well as America's THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) and the ship-based Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System.

The test will likely include the launching of interceptors from these systems.

The Israel Air Force's Air Defense Division, the US Missile Defense Agency and the US Military's European Command (EUCOM) have held the Juniper Cobra exercise for the past five years. The upcoming exercise, though, is planned to be the most complex and extensive yet.
There's also word here that Defense Minister Ehud Barak will attempt to save American funding for the Arrow 3 anti-missile defense (a program which, as I noted here, Defense Secretary Robert Gates has proposed discontinuing, but which is favored by the US Missile Defense Agency).

Read the whole thing.

What will Roger Cohen say?

Roger Cohen thinks if Israel is made to behave, the US and Iran will go off, arm in arm together, happily into the sunset. But the joint missile defense drill between the US and Israel is a much needed reality check. What if Iran does not turn out the way Cohen wants? The only kind of people who don't prepare for the future are fools.
