Netanyahu orders Feiglin off Temple Mount after Waqf threat
Prime Minister Netanyahu has ordered fellow Likud MK Moshe Feiglin not to ascend the Temple Mount on Monday, after the Muslim Waqf which controls the Mount
threatened World War III if Feiglin shows up.
For the past ten years, MK Moshe Feiglin (Likud-Beitenu) has been
visiting the Temple Mount in Jerusalem on the 19th of the Hebrew month,
every month. But on Sunday, April 28, 2013, Feiglin received a phone
call from Deputy Commander Moshe Barkat, Chief of the Israeli Police
David Precinct, which includes the Old City of Jerusalem.
“He informed me that, on direct order from the prime minister, I would not be permitted to enter the Mount tomorrow,” MK Feiglin wrote in his Facebook page.
A source close to Feiglin told The Jewish Press that the deputy
commander told the MK that the Waqf, the Jordanian charity organization
which runs the Temple Mount, warned the Prime Minister’s office that
should Feiglin go up on the Mount on Monday, it would “start World War
Three.”
No one wants that. Except that the same Waqf has been cautioning
about new world wars frequently, and is often involved in organizing,
rather than trying to prevent them.
...
“The only legal way to prevent me from going up to the Temple Mount
tomorrow (without changing existing law),” says MK Feiglin, “is if, in
the opinion of the officer in charge of the place there exists an
immediate, clear and present danger.”
But, having given him the warning a full day in advance, Feiglin
argues, security forces should have ample time—had the prime minister
only told them so—to organize and prevent dangerous gathering and
violence.
According to MK Feiglin, the Prime Minister’s decision “confirms what
I was told by the police command when I asked to tour the Dome of the
Rock, that the Temple Mount is under Muslim sovereignty.”
And what is Feiglin going to do?
The source close to Feiglin says the MK will obey Netanyahu’s
directive, but that as of tomorrow Feiglin would no longer be voting the
Likud-Beitenu party line.
Hmmm.

Judea, Samaria and Andalusia

Yoram Ettinger argues that the reason why Israel can never buy peace by giving up land in Judea and Samaria can be found on the Iberian Peninsula in
Andalusia. Andalusia is the name that the Muslim world uses to refer to the area of southwestern Spain that includes Grenada (whose most important landmark, the Alhambra Palace, is pictured above) and Cordoba, the birthplace of the Rambam (Maimonides).
This principle of "holy land" is permanent, and is stronger than any leader or passing policy, and it applies to any land that was ever under Islamic control. It is an inseparable part of the legacy of Muhammad and Islamic law, especially at this time of the surge of the trans-national Muslim Brotherhood, which views Allah, the Koran, the Prophet Muhammad, jihad and martyrdom as the goal, the law, the leader, the way and the exalted aspiration. Their loyalty to the "holy land" obligates Muslims to "holy war" and the restoration of sovereignty in the Philippines, Thailand, parts of China, Kashmir, Chechnya, Israel, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Spain, Portugal and elsewhere.
The centrality of "holy land" in the Muslim experience can be understood from the example of Andalusia, the Arabic name for most of the Iberian Peninsula, which was under Islamic rule from 711-1492 C.E. The Muslim Golden Age did not take place between the Jordan and the Mediterranean Sea, but rather in Andalusia, especially in the Alhambra palace/fortress in Granada. At the beginning of the 8th century, the Muslims conquered the Iberian Peninsula, southern France, Sicily and the Italian coastline and declared it "Abode of Islam." In 1492, Spain was liberated from the control of Muslims, who today still view "Andalusia" as their "holy land." Muslim terrorist plots in Madrid in March 2004 killed 191 people and wounded around 1,800. The attack intended to correct the "injustice of Andalusia." Saudi Arabia is constructing the second largest mosque in the world in Cordoba, the former capital of Andalusia, while mosques are springing up like mushrooms all over Spain.
Professor Efraim Karsh, head of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean Studies at King's College in London, in his book "Islamic Imperialism" (Yale University Press, 2007), says: "In 1980, there was a huge map of Afghanistan on which large parts of what was then Soviet Central Asia and China's Xinjiang Province were labeled 'Temporarily Occupied Muslim Territory.’ Dr. Yusuf Qaradawi, a spiritual guide of the Muslim Brothers [said] the city of Hirqil [Constantinopol] will be conquered first … The other city Romiya, Rome ... we hope and believe that it too will be conquered … That means that Islam will return to Europe as a conqueror."
Recognition of foreign sovereignty over Muslim "holy land" amounts to humiliation, betrayal and servitude for Arabs and Muslims. The Treaty of Hudaybiyya from 628 C.E. set a precedent for the "phased plan," or for signing tactical agreements that temporarily relinquish "holy land," but never abandon the overarching, permanent strategy of reclaiming it all at a later stage.
Why do Israel's policymakers continue to delude themselves that it's otherwise?

Muslim archeology on Temple Mount erasing traces of Jewish altar
An eight-month '
archeological dig' by the Muslim Waqf on the Temple Mount may have destroyed any traces of the altar from the Jewish Temples, which is located in the same place according to Jewish tradition (Hat Tip:
Gershon D).
The digs have been taking place under the Dome of the Chain, believed to have been built over 1300 years ago. For eight months, the dome - which has a diameter of 14 meters - has been surrounded by a metal fence and black cloth, which hide whatever activity has been going on there from outside inspection. The Muslim Waqf religious authority has claimed the activity is simply a refurbishing of the structure, but refuses adamantly to let Jews or tourists near.
Jewish activists made various attempts to enter the Dome, but met with no success. In the end, the Our Temple Mount news outlet found an Arab who was willing to take photos inside the compound in return for a handsome fee (see below). The man said that it appears the Waqf has already completed its digs and is now covering the dig with dirt.
Our Temple Mount notes that according to Jewish tradition, the place where the Dome of the Chain is located is the spot upon which the sacrificial Altar stood in Temple times. Temple activists said that the Muslim digs are intended to erase the Jewish connection to the Temple Mount.
