Hamas rocket hits synagogue in Ashdod, Hamas rocket just misses kindergarten, shots fired at Jerusalem home
Three people were wounded by shrapnel on Friday when a
Hamas rocket slammed into a synagogue in Ashdod.
A rocket fired by terrorists in Gaza has caused considerable damage to a synagogue in the southern Israeli city of Ashdod.
Paramedics from the United Hatzalah and Magen David Adom emergency
organizations rushed to the scene, after a massive explosion was heard.
Three people were injured and have been evacuated for further medical
treatment after receiving first aid.
Medical sources described two of the victims as males, aged 25 and
26, who suffered shrapnel injuries to their extremities. They have been
evacuated to the Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot.
The third victim, a 40-year-old woman, suffered injuries to her
torso, and has been evacuated to Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon.
Several others were treated at the scene for shock.
A short while later, a
Hamas rocket landed just 12 meters (about 39 feet) from a packed Kindergarten in the western Negev.
A five-rocket salvo saw the Iron Dome intercept two rockets over
Ashkelon. Three rockets struck the western Negev; one of them landed
just 12 meters (roughly feet) from a packed kindergarten. Luckily, all
children and staff are safe; the building was protected from rocket fire
and all of the occupants were in safe areas.
...
The near-miss follows Education Minister Shai Piron's assertion Thursday that the school year would continue as usual, despite the ongoing rocket fire on civilians.
“The school year will begin as planned. We are prepared for any
security-related occurrences,” the MK explained. “During the first two
weeks of the school year, the education system will not be occupied with
regular teaching, but rather with activities to dissipate the tensions
and with discussions surrounding the events of the summer, including the
arousal and demonstration of racism and incitement.”
The Ashklelon and Be'er Sheva Regional Councils have all pledged to ignore Piron's statement, according to Walla! News, citing security concerns and potential psychological toll on the area's children.
This is the third time a rocket has struck near a school. The previous rocket strike wounded a 33 year-old man on Thursday, as he heroically was protecting children from the missile with his own body.
And here in Jerusalem,
shots were fired from the Arab 'refugee camp' at Shuafat into a home in the neighborhood of Pisgat Zev.
As Gaza terrorists kept up their rocket war against Israel on Friday, terrorists in the northern Jerusalem neighborhood of Shuafat apparently opened a salvo of their own, shooting at a Jewish home in the adjacent Pisgat Ze'ev neighborhood.
Police arrived in the neighborhood after receiving reports of gunshots heard from Shuafat.
A bullet was found by the doorway of a Pisgat Ze'ev home, having hit
the home and fallen to the ground; no one was injured in the incident.
A search is being conducted by police forces in the area to try and locate the perpetrator of the shooting attack.
There has been a growing concern over rising terrorism from
Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah faction, based
on an ever more open call for terror by the group accompanied by
numerous terror attacks.
Shabbat Shalom to all of you. As we try to stay safe here in Israel, your prayers on our behalf are greatly appreciated.

'Palestinians' accuse rabbis of teaching racism

Pushing back against reports about an
Islamic Jihad Kindergarten graduation, a top Islamic Jihad operative accused Israeli rabbis of teaching children '
racism.'
"(Rabbis) treat Palestinian children and women as if they were snakes and bugs," Khader Habib, a leader of the Gaza group told Ynet. "They don't see them as normal people."
Habib also defended the 'graduation ceremony' on which I reported earlier in the week.
Habib dismissed the criticism of the unsavory education practices witnessed at the school.
"The Palestinian people have the right to teach its children that the Israeli enemy is stealing Palestinian land," he said.
Habib further claimed that the "enemy is trying to distort the facts by using its media outlets across the globe," and urged the Arab and Palestinian press to come out against the "enemy's criminal propaganda machine."
Orwellian.
The Foreign Ministry is looking into sending the pictures to embassies around the world for display, and an exhibit of them is already being set up in the British parliament. Not that it will likely make any difference....

Islamic Jihad's al-Quds Brigade's website hosted in San Francisco

Here's a job for my friend
Dr. Rusty Shackelford. While presenting the full story of the Islamic Jihad
Kindergarten graduation that I wrote about on Tuesday, MEMRI reports that the website of the Islamic Jihad's al-Quds Brigade is hosted in
San Francisco, California.
It should be noted that the Al-Quds Brigades website is http://saraya.ps/index.php?act=Show&id=21479, which is hosted by CLOUDFLARE in San Francisco, CA. MEMRI was able to pinpoint the server's location to San Francisco through a variety of techniques, including determining the site's IP address.
Maybe Rusty can shut that one down.
Read the whole thing.

The children of Gaza prepare for peace
Some of you may have noticed that posting has been a bit less consistent than usual today. One reason is that this morning I attended my second grader's party for finishing the book of Breishith (Genesis).
The 'Palestinians' of Islamic Jihad in Gaza are learning very different things than my 8-year old is learning. Here's one picture:

And here's another:

And I almost forgot to mention: These 'Palestinian' feigalehs are in
Kindergarten.
The children were dressed up in uniforms of Jihad's armed-wing, the al-Quds Brigades, and each of them received a toy rifle. Some of them held up photos of Islamic Jihad founder Fathi Shaqaqi.
The event was attended by the children's relatives, some of whom belong to Islamic Jihad and other armed Palestinian factions. [Other factions? Is that like the Gerrer's sending to the Vizhnitz cheder l'havdil? (With apologies to those who don't get the question - it was too good a line not to include) CiJ].
During the ceremony the children were asked to stand next to mock coffins draped with flags of the various armed factions. The flags bore the images of "shahids (martyrs)."
One child, Hamza, said "When I grow up I'll join Islamic Jihad and the al-Quds Brigades. I'll fight the Zionist enemy and fire missiles at it until I die as a shahid and join my father in heaven.
"I love the resistance and the martyrs and Palestine, and I want to blow myself up on Zionists and kill them on a bus in a suicide bombing," he said.
During the ceremony the children "demonstrated" how Israel treats Palestinian prisoners. In the display, handcuffed children depicting inmates were placed in cages, with an "Israeli guard" standing nearby.
Another child depicting an Israeli prison guard placed the head of a "Palestinian prisoner" in a bucket of water to demonstrate how Palestinian prisoners are "tortured" in Israel.
Many more pictures of (apparently the same) graduation from Challah Hu Akhbar (who actually had this story yesterday)
here.
In the meantime, an op-ed in Haaretz complains about the '
militarism' in Israeli kindergartens.
It begins in kindergarten, when one day the parents are asked to prepare a package of goodies and to help to draw greetings for the soldiers of the Duvdevan elite undercover unit who have adopted the kindergarten.
Miraculously, even if it was done without awareness, the request/order came during the weeks of Passover and Holocaust Remembrance Day, of Memorial Day and Independence Day, a period full of days of majesty, which for the children ended up in a mixture of Pharoah, Hitler, fireworks and "the people who died for the country because of the Arabs who wanted to expel the Jews," as my four-year-old daughter once told me.
The militarism in Israeli society is reflected not only among the gang of Sayeret Matkal elite commando graduates that dominates the country, but also on the everyday level, ostensibly banal and unthreatening, like the adoption of kindergartens by army units, or a brief holiday visit to Israel Defense Forces bases. And if there's nothing wrong with such an early start to preparing the children for their next role, the one that will begin at the age of 18, clearly the school system has to mobilize for the purpose.
Sorry, but this isn't militarism, it's patriotism, and there is nothing wrong with a country teaching even its young to appreciate those who serve it. Even Kindergarteners. That's a lot different than teaching 5 and 6-year olds to be 'martyrs' and to kill their enemies. Too bad Haaretz and its unquestioning readers cannot tell the difference.

The 'Palestinians' can't even accept a gift and say "thank you"

Prime Minister Netanyahu and Quartet envoy Tony Blair met on Friday, and worked out yet another package of unilateral concessions for the 'Palestinians.' You and I would call them gifts, and honestly, I think some of them were
excessive anyway.
The proposal was presented as the committee of the Quartet – made up of the United Nations, the United States, the European Union and Russia – prepared to meet in Munich, Germany. It reportedly includes expanding Arab construction in east Jerusalem and giving the Palestinian Authority security powers in seven West Bank cities.
Netanyahu also agreed to begin discussions on the development of a Palestinian Authority gas field adjacent to an Israeli gas field off the coast of Gaza. The PM said future revenues from the Palestinian field will go to the PA.
But the 'Palestinians' mommies never taught them how to accept a gift and say "thank you." This is 'Palestinian' chief
negotiator bottle washer
Saeb Erekat.
Erekat said the proposal "is just a trick and procrastination of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu."
"What Netanyahu should do, if he wants to build confidence, is immediately stop settlement construction in the West Bank and east Jerusalem and recognize a Palestinian state on the territories occupied in 1967,” the Palestinian news agency Ma'an quoted the chief negotiator as saying.
Erekat expressed his hope that western nations "stop dealing with Israel as if it is a country that is above the law" and "reach a historic decision that will recognize a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with east Jerusalem as its capital.
The senior official called on the Quartet to force Israel to halt settlement construction, "including in Jerusalem."
In other words, Israel should just concede up front everything the 'Palestinians' want in a 'final solution.' Are we dealing in statecraft or are we dealing in Kindergarten?
But then Erekat comes up with this doozer.
Addressing the dramatic political developments in the Arab World, Erekat said "what is driving the region to violence and extremism is the continued occupation and Israeli insistence to maintain the settlement enterprise."
At least they're getting their
talking points in order.
