Loser....
One of my Facebook friends (who is actually a cousin) makes some good points (in Hebrew, but I will summarize in English) about Wednesday's Shaked Committee vote to impose criminal sanctions on Haredim who don't serve in the IDF.She writes that because of his egomania, Yair Lapid (whom she refers to as Yahir Lapid - Yahir means Arrogant) passed on an opportunity to make a financially sound decision. Had he imposed economic sanctions on the Haredim, he would not have gotten very many to go to the army, but at least he would have saved the state treasury some money. Instead, he insisted on criminal sanctions - which will never happen - while acting like a bull in the china shop with respect to the current system, which was slowly bringing Haredim into the army. The result is that the state loses twice: IDF enrollment of Haredim may actually decrease (because it was happening quietly and no longer will), while the state will save no money as a result.
If any of you doubt that Lapid's real agenda is to end Torah learning in the Jewish state (soon to be the only state in the world where Torah learning can be a crime), maybe that will convince you.
