Israel releasing 26 murderers tonight
Right about now, the Israel Prisons Service is starting the process of releasing 26 murderers as a gesture to the 'Palestinian Authority' for joining 'peace talks.' Unlike past releases, this time the IPS is doing all they can (which isn't much) to ensure that the release does not become an occasion for mass outcries of joy from the 'Palestinians.'The Israel Prison Service was slated to begin the release of 26 Palestinian security prisoners from Ayalon Prison in Ramle at 9 p.m. on Tuesday as a gesture to the Palestinian Authority for resuming direct peace talks.
The prisoners were expected to arrive in their respective destinations of Gaza and the West Bank a little after midnight, according to Israeli media.
Of the 26 prisoners, 14 will be released to the Gaza Strip via the Erez crossing and the remaining 12 will be taken to Ofer Prison and then transferred to Ramallah by way of the Beitunia checkpoint.
The 26 prisoners due to be released were among a total of 104 that Israel has agreed to free in four stages. The men were brought to Ayalon Prison from jails across Israel on Monday.
The families of the released prisoners were set to meet them in Ramallah's Muqata compound where the prisoners were expected to be greeted with an official reception and meeting with PA President Mahmoud Abbas before traveling to their homes.
An Israeli official said they would be taken in vehicles with sealed windows to prevent a repetition of scenes in which released Palestinian prisoners have stretched out their hands in V-for-Victory signs.
Authorities had planned to transport the group of men, arrested between 1985 and 2001, from jail in the dead of night in the early hours of Wednesday.Three words: Target rich environment.
The picture at the top is Yehoshua (Jason) Friedberg HY"D (May God Avenge his blood), who was kidnapped and murdered while hitchhiking from Jerusalem to his army base at Tel HaShomer in March 1993. I remember the murder well, because when Friedberg's body was found, near the Shoresh exit on the Jerusalem - Tel Aviv highway (there's a plaque there today), then-Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin was in Washington 'negotiating peace.' Friedberg's friends set up a shiva tent where his body was found along the highway, and had a fire going there all week that was visible when my bus from Tel Aviv (where I worked at the time) passed. They had huge signs there that called on Rabin to come home. Eventually, he did.

It reminds me of something often repeated in the Hebrew Bible:
"You will conceal your sins in the night but your nakedness will be revealed in the broad daylight for all Israel to see!"
Subverting justice will never lead to peace. It is a disgraceful moment in Jewish history and no good will come of it!
Hey Carl,
I do not agree with this release. And it is worrisome that Israel is the only side to have to show good faith all the time. How about asking the Palestinians a sign of good faith?
I just learned that Fatah is actually "allowing" Palestinian groups to smuggle weapons from Syria to Samaria & Judea to threaten Israel - I wonder what the US has to say about this intel? Doesn't this constitute yet another breach of the Oslo Agreements (yes, we all know that Palestine has upheld its side of the bargain, but no one calls upon them on that fact)?
These peace talks have failed already.
Cheers
