Maybe Prime Minister Netanyahu is finding his junk. Or maybe he's not
Israel’s diplomatic and security cabinet met on Wednesday to discuss the latest cease-fire initiatives with Hamas, as international leaders continued to press for an end to the hostilities in Gaza.Indeed. But the question is whether we will make them bleed to stop our bleeding, or whether we'll give up and just put on a band-aid.
The meeting came to an end with no apparent conclusion on the cease-fire arrangement.
The London-based Al Hayat newspaper, citing Hamas and Islamic Jihad, said Israel wanted a 90-day period to determine "good intentions" of the movement before discussing Gazan demands.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu told Clinton he wanted a "long-term" solution. Failing that, Netanyahu made clear, that he stood ready to step up the military campaign to silence Hamas' rockets.
"A band-aid solution will only cause another round of violence," said Ofir Gendelman, a Netanyahu spokesman.
And a short while later, a different answer comes in.
Egyptian television says a news conference is expected in a short time on Wednesday following talks with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on the Gaza truce.
According to a Palestinian official with knowledge fo talks, a ceasefire arrangement between Hamas and Israel has been agreed.
This is starting to remind me of the summer of 1982 in Lebanon. For those too young to remember, the IDF spent what seemed like weeks sitting in the hills overlooking Beirut, ready to invade, while the 'international community' negotiated a deal for Yasser Arafat to leave. The result was that Arafat lived to fight another day and eventually return as part of the Oslo Accords.
A deal for Hamas to leave Gaza? I'm afraid we're way past that stage. We may do something worse instead.

Wow. I remember the frustration of Beirut palpably. Good comparison. There is no time left for hesitation, and the job has to be finished thoroughly. Otherwise, we will have to repeat this - with the attendant terror inflicted on Israelis in the meantime - with an even stronger enemy. He who is merciful to the cruel, will be destined to be cruel to those deserving of mercy.
A meaningful difference with the Lebanon situation: While the US certainly curtailed Israel's movement through to Beirut in '82, I don't remember reading or hearing anywhere that the US had armed your enemies.
That would be in contradistinction to the Hillary/Obama Team, who seem to be getting away scot free with gunrunning to Al Qaeda; turning over decades worth of $Billions in military equipment and training to the Muslim Bros in Egypt, who are also facilitating rocket deliveries to Gaza to kill Jews; flying an undamaged U.S. drone with the most advanced technology in the world to the Iranian mullahs, who want to delete Israel and all Jews altogether... and that's only some of the things that we've heard about...
So Hillary does all that, and then shows up in Israel to negotiate on behalf of the Muslim Bros Hamas Jew-killer wing, forcing Israel to stand down and get back to silently absorbing the rocketfire. Until the bigger job can be finished off.
These Obama/Hillary people are NOT your friends. That's how I see it.
Is this man not ashamed to stand next to that witch? Like everyone in her regime, they all lie, connive and care nothing about our dear little country. But Bibi still thinks he needs America when all he really needs is trust in God.
