Jerusalem District Court denies injunction against Innocence of Muslims
The Jerusalem District Court on Thursday denied a request for an injunction to block the "Innocence of Muslims" video which sparked widespread protests throughout the Islamic world.I guess the Israeli courts have a better idea of what freedom of speech means than does the Obama administration. Heh.
The petition, filed Wednesday by MK Taleb a-Sanaa (United Arab List-Ta’al) and Arab-Israeli mayors and religious leaders, demanded that Google block all access in Israel to the video ridiculing the prophet Muhammad.
In the hearing Thursday, the judge declined to issue an injunction blocking the video until a full hearing can take place on October 15. Google's lawyers argued that the company is not responsible for third-party content uploaded to YouTube. It does not have the tools to know if content is racist, constitutes incitement or is slanderous.
The lawyers further argued that watching the film hosted on their video sharing website is a choice.
