Republicans making biggest push ever for Jewish voters

The Republican believes that it has a chance this year to break the Democratic stranglehold on Jewish voters, and it is making a stronger push than ever to attract them especially in key states like Florida and Pennsylvania in which there are close races and large Jewish populations.
The size and scope of the movement goes beyond the RJC’s previous outreach efforts in 2000 and 2004, and involves some $6.5 million, according to people helping plan the launch. According to those involved, including former George W. Bush press secretary Ari Fleischer, the group will reach out to narrowly targeted sections of cities and counties in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida, where, by RJC polling calculations, a slight shift in votes could affect those swing states that are so important to Democratic President Barack Obama’s re-election.

The ambitious campaign is based on a theme that, according to Mr. Fleischer and RJC Executive Director Matt Brooks, Jewish Republicans have been hearing from their Democratic friends and relatives since the 2008 election called “My Buyer’s Remorse.” The project includes television ads involving “testimonials” by Jewish Americans who have turned away from Mr. Obama because of policies they see as anti-Israel

RJC is doing direct canvassing, several hundred small events, phone banks, and big outreach training workshops in September.

“On Sunday, September 9 and Monday, September 10 the RJC will execute the largest, most comprehensive grassroots door-to-door outreach effort ever undertaken in the Jewish community,” said an email sent to potential voters in June. The email asks RJC members to join the Romney advocacy effort in the battleground states of Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida.

“The stakes are just too high and we cannot afford to have our members sit on the sidelines,” said the email, asking voters to respond to grassroots@rjchq.org
Here's one of those ads. Let's go to the videotape.
