The fruits of 'engagement': Genocidal Sudan to be elected to UN's 'human rights council'

Showing just how effective the Obama administration's policy of 'engaging' with it has been after three and a half years, the United Nations 'human rights council' is about to elect to membership genocidal Sudan, which is led by international war criminal Omar al-Bashir.
The Geneva-based human rights group UN Watch urged United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay to urgently speak out against the African-backed bid by Sudanese president Omar Al-Bashir, indicted for genocide by the International Criminal Court, for a seat on the U.N. Human Rights Council.

Last week, the U.S. failed to get the council to pass a condemnation of what it said was a Syrian candidacy for 2014.

UN Watch, which headed the World NGO Summit on Darfur, also called on US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the EU’s Catherine Ashton to denounce and fight against Sudan’s candidacy.

“Electing Sudan to the U.N. body mandated to promote and protect human rights worldwide is like putting Jack the Ripper in charge of a women’s shelter,” said Hillel Neuer, executive director of UN Watch.

...

The U.N.’s African group of states agreed behind closed doors to endorse the candidacies of Ethiopia, Gabon, Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone and Sudan. Because Africa has arranged for five countries to run for the same amount of allotted seats, Sudan’s election is virtually assured.
As if anyone still needed proof that the 'human rights council' is a very poor protector of human rights. Aren't you glad that Obama and Clinton decided to engage with them? It's really effective, isn't it?

Read the whole thing.

So who's worse: UNESCO or the 'human rights council'?

By coincidence, last night, I watched a program on a religious channel about the ongoing Arab north Sudanese Arab genocide against black south Sudanese.

They showed black Sudanese who live daily in fear of being bombed by Sudanese Air Force planes. These people don't even dare try to plant the fields by the places in which they are hiding. They're living on bogs, roots, tree leaves. It was heart-breaking to watch. It was infuriating to see how little the so-called civilized world is doing for those people.

That this genocidal regime has been appointed to the UN's Human Rights Council adds to the stench emanating from the UN, a nest of criminals and enemies of civilization. Omar al-Bashir and his cohorts deserve trial and hanging for their crimes against humanity, not seated on what falsely purports to be the world's guardian of human rights.

But you misconstrue. These ARE human rights precisely according to the UN's rules and guidelines. Everyone who is Arab and/or Muslim is ensconced with the human right to wage genocide on whomever they like in accordance with our staunch support of their quaint and glorious ancient indigenous heritage and culture.
