Finally: Romney takes off the gloves and hits Obama in an ad
A new ad from the Romney campaign calls President Obama a liar. And it even uses Hillary Clinton to prove it (Hat Tip: Memeorandum). Then, the ad refers to what it considers unfair attacks on Democrat Hillary Clinton during the 2008 campaign. "Candidate Obama lied about Hillary Clinton," the voiceover states, before cutting to a clip of Clinton saying, "So shame on you, Barack Obama."Let's go to the videotape. More below.
The ad concludes: "But America expects more from a president. Obama’s dishonest campaign: Another reason America has lost confidence in Barack Obama."
This ad will begin airing immediately, especially, sources tell me, in swing states like Ohio and Virginia.
It represents the strongest pushback by the Romney campaign of the Obama campaign's claim that Romney outsourced jobs while running Bain Capital.
"Today, Romney for President released a new television advertisement titled 'No Evidence,'" the Romney campaign will say in a press release, when the ad is formally released later this morning. "Just like he did against Hillary Clinton, President Obama now continues to spread dishonest attacks about Mitt Romney to distract from his failed record. Even though fact check after fact check have found his claims to be false, he continues to mislead the American people. It is no wonder why our country has lost confidence in his leadership."And I thought they were going to go to the Swiss bank account claim.
I don't remember an ad like this in the 2008 campaign. Oh, wait, the 3:00 am phone call? No... that was Hillary Clinton's ad.
I can't wait for Romney to hit Obama on foreign policy and national security. Keep it up guys.
