Swiss supermarket chain piously marks product origins

Switzerland's Migros supermarket chain has piously decided to give its customers 'more information.' Specifically, they have decided to mark products that are manufactured in 'east' Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria.
Migros stated that it wanted to offer customers greater transparency, adding that the Swiss government and the UN consider settlements illegal.

The company spokeswoman, Monika Weibel, stated on Tuesday that Migros does not support boycotts but rather wants to let customers make informed decisions.
Migros joins Britain, Denmark and South Africa.

I wonder why they're not marking products from Tibet, Chechnia or Northern Cyprus.... No, I don't wonder. This is Switzerland and they have a history of this stuff.

The new Migros action is clearly discriminatory.
Their inclusion of “Gaza, Israeli settlement area” clearly demonstrates that you have been misled by political manipulation.
Since September 2005 there are no Israeli settlements in the Gaza strip.
All 21 civilian settlements and military installations and all Israeli soldiers in Gaza have been removed in the “disengagement” of 2005.
But that has probably has escaped Migros.
Since Migros wants to ensure transparency to it’s customers, certainly they will also declare additional items, such as goods from Syria, Turkey (with the oppressed Kurds), from occupied northern Cyprus, occupied Tibet, occupied Kashmir, China (where workers toil for low wages) and other problem areas.
Sincerely,
Michel Bodenheimer

And will they also require foods that are certified halal to be so marked in the interest of "informing customers"? Many Western meat manufacturers use halal methods on all their meat to facilitate exports to the Middle East, but they don't tell their domestic consumers that they've used halal slaughter.
