Obama to take a page out of Rabin's book?
For those of you who lived through the mid-'90's of the last century in Israel, please tell me that this doesn't sound familiar (Hat Tip: Bad Blue).Worryingly, a US Dept of Homeland Security 'insider' recently told a Canadian paper that the Obama Administration is scheming (along with that heavily-politicized agency) to spark a Helter-Skelter-type race war in this country... only difference being it'll be the Bolshevik Boy Wonder -rather than Charlie- we'll be turning-to to lead us all 'Forward' through the ensuing apocalypse. Attempts at gun confiscation, curfews, and DHS checkpoints (they recently obtained the bulletproof booths) are what you can look forward to in this action-packed sequel to hopenchange.For those who do not understand my reference to Rabin at the top of this post, one of the many pieces of speculation as to what really happened on the night of November 4, 1995 (given that the government has never offered an explanation for why assassin Yigal Amir was a consort of General Security Service agent Avishai Raviv, and yet he managed to pull the trigger) was that Rabin's assassination was staged in a bid to gain sympathy for him, and that Rabin was not supposed to die but the staging attempt went awry. Now that a reckless prosecutor in the Trayvon Martin case has the progressive Left's street muscle all fired up, perhaps DHS staging a faux-Obama-assassination attempt (as the informant purports they're planning to do) could trigger the widespread rioting and looting throughout major US cities that Obama needs to inflict martial law and cancel the November election. But Axelrod won't be leaving that to chance: the source also speaks of persistent rumors that Louis Farrakhan in on the CIA payroll, and that he'll be utilized in rabble-rousing masses of blacks and Muslims -in concert loyal Obama allies like the New Black Panthers- 'by any means necessary'.
Yeah, this particular DHS 'insider' reminds one of what you hear from the Ulsterman Report, which has delivered astounding revelations from a presidency in disarray over the last couple years. But interestingly, their anonymous 'White House Insider' recently said very similar things re pending US riots and subsequently cancelled elections, except the trigger in his view would be the likely Supreme Court defeat for ObamaCare, bringing a 'Summer of Healthcare Riots'.
Will Obama try to take a page out of Rabin's alleged book if he trails in the polls in late summer or early fall? Hmmm.

Obama's situation cannot be compared to Rabin's. Besides 80% of American Jews voted for him, and funded him, so why are Blacks and Muslims being blamed here for possible riots? American Muslims are law abiding, they're not like the Bible belt hooligans that comprise the tea party crowd, low income, illiterate and poverty stricken. American Muslims are liberals, wealthy and well educated.
Thats a nice sleight of hand, pretending that Yigal Amir's actions won't be repeated if Bibi cedes territory for a Palestinian state.
How many people here would rise to assasinate Bibi if he did? Many here would, i'm sure.
Yigal Amir wasn't set up by Shabak or anyone. He thought he was carrying out God's will.

The Halacha of Rodef and the Rabin Shooting

Introduction
In honor of Yom Haatzmaut, we will devote this week's essay to a discussion of a topic relevant to Israeli life. Our essay will discuss the actions of Yigal Amir, the man who shot Prime Minister Rabin. His defense was that Rabin was a Rodef (pursuer- Halacha mandates one to kill someone who is attempting murder). We seek to demonstrate that Prime Minister Rabin was not a Rodef and that Yigal Amir had no Halachic basis for his actions. Our discussion is based on a responsum of Rav Yehuda Henkin (Teshuvot Bnai Banim 3:33) and an essay authored by Professor Eliav Schochetman, which appears in the nineteenth volume of the Israeli Torah journal Techumin. Please note that both Rav Henkin and Professor Schochetman have been outspoken critics of the Oslo process and are often cited as spokesmen for the Israeli Right. Nevertheless they argue that Prime Minister Rabin did not have the status of a Rodef.
The Rules of Rodef
The Halacha of Rodef emerges from Shemot 22:1. The Torah teaches that one may kill a thief who is tunneling through one's house. One may assume that the thief is armed and thus constitutes a danger to life. The Torah permits the householder to kill the thief in self-defense. Chazal phrase this rule accordingly: "If someone comes to kill you, act first and kill him." This rule applies not only to self-defense but also to defending the lives of others. Moreover, it also applies to someone who engages in sexual assault (Sanhedrin 73a). Thus, one should kill someone who is attempting to murder or rape.
In the absence of a Sanhedrin sitting in proximity to the Bait Hamikdash, the Halacha does not permit a Bait Din to impose capital punishment. The rules of Rodef, however, apply even in the absence of a Sanhedrin (Rambam Hilchot Rotzeiach 1:6-13 and Shulchan Aruch Choshen Mishpat 425). In fact, the Rama applies the Halacha of Rodef to one who engages in forgeries. Government authorities in the past imposed severe collective punishments (including executions) upon the Jewish communities in which a Jewish forger resided. Thus, the forger endangers the community and is treated with the severity of a Rodef.
Yigal Amir claimed that Prime Minister Rabin was a Rodef because the latter's policies regarding the Oslo process endangered the Jewish community. We seek to demonstrate that this was a mistaken assertion even if one believes that Yitzchak Rabin's policies endangered the entire Jewish community. One cannot draw a legitimate analogy between the late Prime Minister and the forger discussed by the Rama.
