It'll be official next week: Knesset to be dissolved in favor of elections

It will be official on Wednesday. The coalition and the opposition have agreed to dissolve the current Knesset, which was the most stable and longest-lasting one we have had in the 21 years since I moved here, and go to elections. Elections are likely to take place in September.
Coalition Chairman MK Zeev Elkin (Likud) filed an official motion for the dissolution of the 18th Knesset on Wednesday.

Likud officials told Ynet that the part will now push for elections on Tuesday, September 4.

Opposition Chairman Shaul Mofaz (Kadima) however, is pushing for Sunday, September 16 and election day.

Accordingly, the Knesset is likely to end its term next week.
An earlier story said that Prime Minister Netanyahu wanted elections to take place in August. Given that this country (thankfully) does not allow absentee ballots, that would be insane. But not nearly as insane as Mofaz's plan to hold them on September 16. That is the eve of Rosh HaShanna, the Jewish New Year.
