Finally: Obama calls Netanyahu

Israel Radio reports (6:00 pm) that President Obama finally made a condolence call to Prime Minister Netanyahu. This is from the Twitter feed of Ofir Gendelman, the Prime Minister's spokesman to the Arab media.
PM Netanyahu received a telephone call from President Obama who extended his heartfelt condolences on the passing of his father.
Anyone else have the feeling that Obama was dragged into doing so kicking and screaming?

Something tells me that Ben Zion Netanyahu z"l (of blessed memory) would not have been impressed.

UPDATE 6:59 PM

Here's the official White House statement.
President Obama called Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel today from Air Force One to express his personal condolences on the death of his father, Benzion Netanyahu. In the call the President noted Benzion Netanyahu’s remarkable legacy of service to the Jewish people and deep friendship with the United States.
And here's the acknowledgment from the Prime Minister's office.

It still sounds like Obama was dragged into this. From Air Force One? Really?
