The kind of Jew they like
I hesitate to post this on Chol HaMoed, because it's something that should cause us to tear our clothes in mourning - which we avoid as much as possible during the holidays, and which I trust these peoples' families have long since done - but this is what it takes to be the kind of Jew who interests the likes of the Daily Mail. The story is about a 'reality TV show' about the lives of three formerly Hassidic Jews - two men and one woman - who have divorced their spouses and left their faith (Hat Tip: Drew G).The difference between religious Jews who go 'off the path' in Israel and those who do so abroad is that the Israelis are much less likely to marry outside the faith and are a bit less likely to do things like regret that their parents 'deprived' them of bacon.
This story is a very sad commentary. Those of you with the stomach can read the whole thing.
Frankly, I find the whole 'reality TV' thing (which didn't exist when I left the US nearly 21 years ago) to be really disgusting.

Noah... You just had to eat bread? There are those who observe the holiday by eating anything BUT bread... You just didn't want to observe the command of Pesach and therefore you have cut yourself off from the Jewish people. I would rather eat potatoes and onions than bread during the Pesach Chag. I have NEVER watched a single episode of so-called 'reality' tv. I threw out my TV set about ten years ago and don't miss it. I watch old TV shows on youtube and that is all. Todays programming is sick in the head.
I call this "Chabonism" in commemoration of the the writer Michael Chabon who's a Jew like I'm Russian. Oh sure my family's from there, but that's not the same thing. But in Chabon's case he's the kind of Jew who goes out of his way not only to publicly deny any affiliation with Judaism and to be as morally offensive to everything about Judaism as humanly possible, he responds to any and all criticism with an automatic "By my pork eating Arab terrorist loving Jew hating Buddhist nihilism is actually a BETTER kind of Judaism than you old fashioned Jews!!!!"

You and most of your schnorrers here support Geert Wilders who despite pleas from Rabbis supported the stun ban in Holland which means that had it become law, Orthodox Jews, and the small minority of Muslims who also do not accept stunning would have had to import meat from abroad.

It's actually the other way round. Jews converted to Islam, even though Islam doesn't bother with Book People, and if you think forced conversions were how we gained converts you are ignorant. A forced conversion is not accepted, it has to be a conscious choice. The Quran mandates freedom of religion, that is why Islam is the only religion that can rule with tolerance. History proved that.
But even allowing for the Al Mohad type rare occasions when forced conversions did happen, (exception not the rule) how do you account for Chinese Jews choosing Islam when we took the Quran there for the Chinese? they nearly all embraced it, though they were not dawa recipients. Chinese Muslims today, include the descendents of these converts.
