Jewish Leftist party head refers to 'Jew-boys from Brooklyn' on Army Radio
Zehava Gal-On, the leader of the shrunken Meretz faction in the Knesset (a far Left, but Jewish party) made a reference to 'Jew-boys from Brooklyn' during an interview on Razi Barkai's Army Radio show on Wednesday (Hat Tip: Aryeh Z).While discussing the influence Diaspora Jews exert in Israel, Galon expressed frustration at the possibility of “Jew-boys” (the derogatory word is Yehudonim in Hebrew) deciding Israel’s fate.Gal-On later described her words as a 'slip of the tongue.'
Before her slip, Galon made reference to Nazi Germany when discussing Israeli politics and attempts to limit the Supreme Court’s power. “This is a matter of principle, are we an enlightened country that builds a wall to protect ourselves from a fired-up mob or oppressive majority… That is why they allowed judicial overseeing from the Supreme Court… It is the eve of Holocaust Memorial Day, we’ve seen the power of an oppressive majority…”
Barkai responded by joking, “I’ll erase that from the protocol.”
Galon continued, “If 10 mandates [in Knesset] are enough to change how Israel determines whether to go to war with Iran or not. Organized groups will come from Brooklyn and get the right to vote. All the decisions about life and death here, whether to evacuate the territories, whether to authorize outposts, those sitting in New York or Brooklyn will decide for us?
“Groups of Jew-boys… Jews, organized in the Diaspora, will decide how we live here?” Galon continued, quickly correcting her mistake.
“That’s what our government wants to do,” she concluded. “No more human rights, no more democracy, no more court system to protect us.”
But they weren't. This is really the way Israel's Left (and most of the 'Supreme Court' justices are in tune with Meretz's political philosophy) thinks. They have nothing but contempt for religious Jews, and would sooner give the land to the Arabs than make it more comfortable for religious Jews to live here. They must be defeated if Israel is to thrive as a Jewish state.

The Left is the Left, whether in Israel or the U.S. Whether religious or not. Whether having a Soviet heritage or a Frankfurt Group marcuse/alinsky New Left heritage. Leftism is the enemy, and while socialism collectivism might (and I mean MIGHT) hold up in tiny Israel for a while longer, it has a history of resulting in starvation and slaughter wherever it's tried. It's hard to sort out who is what, but I'm very sure that people ready for marxist or suppressive authoritarianism, rather than using ways outlined in the Torah for economics and respect for others... Well, we are at this moment missing the mark.
Neo-liberalism (as totally contrasted with Classical Liberalism) is an international affliction, poisoning all of Western Civilization. The condescending sense of omniscience and moral and intellectual superiority are the same as shown by American hard left Democrats, Canadian NDP & Liberals, British Labourites.
Captain H, have to say I think your "neo-liberalism" is nothing to do with "liberal". It is Left/Marxist authoritarian. And it is not just "hard left Democrats" in the US, it has morphed into the full spectrum. If you listen to speeches by MLK and JFK, they now sound like raging right wingers. I love listening to them because it gives a rock that shows how far off the road we've gone, thinking it is the "nice" thing to do, when it is simply deadly.
Sunlight. I agree. That's what I said. Neo-liberalism, or recent-liberalism indeed has nothing to do with original, classical liberalism. Neo-liberalism is fascism-with-a-smiley-face.
Here is John F. Kennedy's 14 minute inaugural address. I just can't imagine any Democrat, or other Western liberal, making such a speech today. That's how far leftward the West's liberal parties have moved in a few decades. Today one hears this only from conservative parties and movements. Kennedy today would be most at home with Tea Party conservatives, who essentially say what he said so long ago.
