Huge majority of Israelis backs international strike on Iran, plurality would also back Israeli strike

A poll published by the Jerusalem Post finds that a huge majority of Israelis favors an international strike on Iran, and a plurality also would favor an Israel-only strike on Iran if necessary.
The poll found that 72% would back an international strike, while just 14% would oppose it, and 14% did not express an opinion.

When asked whether they supported Israel taking action if the US declined, support was much lower. Only 45% said they would back an Israeli strike, 40% opposed it, and 15% had no opinion.

Israelis who identified themselves as right-wing and religious were more likely to support an Israeli strike on Iran. Support for such an attack is wider among people over 50 than people under 30.

Responding to the poll at the conference, Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon said: "The results reflect a common sense shared by the Israeli people that since Iran is a threat to the entire international community, this threat should be removed by the international community led by the US. However since we have witnessed through past and recent history that the international community response is not always effective nor timely, we should keep all options available to us, since no one will take better care of our security and national interests than ourselves."
I doubt this will have any influence on the Obama administration.

Roll on Iran,

What the hell is stopping is you from flexing your nuclear muscle? Make me the Presidentess of Iran, and my first order of business would be to publically declare my country a nuclear power, preside over a spectacular nuclear explosion show then hand out free sweets to the entire nation.

Too many weasels and cowards leading Muslim countries.

Oh, and I cannot wait for Iraq to start trading oil in the EUro after dumping the dollar :)

That will see American bootlicking despots in the region fall like skittles (long overdue)

Chayma, if you were Presidentness of Iran you would be fated to preside over a kingdom of perfectly smooth glass, reflecting the empty cold sublimity of a celestial perfection indifferent to the fading echoes of your long lost boasts. btw, Carl, a 45% plurality is not convincing public majority support.

Not yet.

Sparky,

I think it's only 45% because there's still a perception that there's another choice, i.e. the US will handle it.

If the choice is hit Iran ourselves or do nothing, that number would be a solid majority. In fact, I think a JCPA poll last week found it at around 60%.
