Video: 60 Minutes' Leslie Stahl interviews former Mossad chief Meir Dagan

I already previewed Meir Dagan's interview with 60 Minutes' Leslie Stahl here, and explained to you what I believe to be the real reason why Dagan is opposing a strike on Iran. You'll see that Leslie Stahl raises the reason I posited with him and he denies it. Here's the full interview as shown on 60 Minutes on Sunday night. Stay tuned after the interview because I'll have more for you.

Let's go to the videotape.

Please note that Dagan is not saying that Israel should not strike Iran - only that it should not do it now. Note also that Dagan does not think Israel can live with a nuclear Iran.

There are two problems with doing that. One is that Obama cannot be trusted to ever bomb Iran, and the second is that what Obama might do to Israel before the elections is likely to be very different from what Obama might do to Israel after the elections.

Also, when he says that at best we could cause a delay, as I have pointed out previously, that's what was said regarding Iraq in 1981, and we know what happened there.

60 Minutes also has a couple of 'web extras' with Dagan. In this one, he is asked whether Israel could ever successfully attack Iran.

Let's go to the videotape.

I agree with Dagan. I think that one way it could be done (which he refuses to describe) is by sealing the entrances shut. But to say that Israel couldn't do anything is nonsense.

In this one, Stahl asks him again about why he's going around saying that Israel should not strike Iran now.

Let's go to the videotape.

Well, of course he wraps himself in the flag. What do you expect?

There's one more web extra from Dagan but that one probably deserves a separate post.
