Z Street wins one against Obama's IRS

You may recall that more than a year ago, Z Street went to court to try to force the IRS to make a determination on their application for tax exempt status. I am pleased to tell you that this week (more than a year later), a Federal court has determined that Z Street has stated a cause of action and denied an IRS motion to dismiss the case.

Yes, of course, Z Street's founder and her husband are lawyers. How else could anyone fight the IRS?

Thanks for posting the update. Just one important distinction: Z STREET did not bring the lawsuit to force the IRS to make a determination on our status, but instead brought the case because, as we allege, the IRS has engaged in viewpoint discrimination by treating our application differently (i.e. taking much more time, sending it to different offices, etc.)because our positions are not the same as those of this administration's, with respect to Israel. This viewpoint discrimination is a clear violation of the First Amendment to the US Constitution. Indeed, given the information thus far supplied by the IRS it appears they treat other Israel education and support organizations in a discriminatory fashion as well. And as Carl very correctly notes, it is a good thing we don't have to pay legal fees or we'd have to abandon our efforts to seek justice.
