Nasrallah disses Iran

In a speech on Tuesday night, Hezbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah warned that Hezbullah does not take orders from Iran.
"I don't believe Israel will attack Iranian nuclear facilities, but of it does… the Iranian leadership won't ask Hezbollah for anything and won't dictate anything. We will have to think and decided what to do on our own."

Nasrallah further said that "Iran supports the resistance movements in Palestine and Lebanon and asks for nothing in return, since this is a religious obligation.

"We get spiritual, political and material assistance from Iran. The resistance movement that won the Second Lebanon War could not have done so without Iran's help, but they can't dictate anything," he said.
JPost adds:
In a speech delivered via video link at a ceremony marking the birth of Islamic prophet Muhammed, Nasrallah thanked the Iranian regime for its support, saying that Tehran could escape western sanctions if it wanted to, but instead chooses not to "sell out Palestine."

The Lebanon Now news portal quoted Nasrallah as saying that Lebanon "could not have been victorious" in the 2006 Second Lebanon War without the help of Iran.

"We have received moral, political and financial support in all means possible from Iran since 1982," Nasrallah stated.
Nasrallah also expressed support for Bashar al-Assad.

What's going on here is that Nasrallah has realized that his organization is essentially the ruling party in Lebanon, and that if he attacks Israel in response to a US or Israeli attack on Iran, Lebanon is far more vulnerable to Israeli counterattacks than Iran is, and Israel would have no reason to hold back against Lebanon. Lebanon would be bombed back to the 8th century in an hour or two, and Nasrallah would find that his rockets are nothing but a nuisance against far superior Israeli firepower.

I'm betting that if Israel does attack Iran, Nasrallah will stand down, although he may try to send terrorists to covertly attack Israel.
