Interview with woman who escaped 'honor killing' in 'Palestinian territories'

Another myth we often hear about Islam is that there are no honor killings. Here is testimony from a woman who was set on fire because she was pregnant and somehow survived. It's from French television and the woman was from the 'Palestinian territories.' I would love to have heard the entire interview because in addition to the (all-too-typical) story, she also mentions being taught to hate Jews.

Let's go to the videotape (Hat Tip: Tundra Tabloids via Will)

The host is a jerk - he should let her tell her own story instead of interrupting her non-stop.

She wrote a book called "Burned Alive" and it tells the whole story of how her family tried to honor kill her for being pregnant as a teenager.

At the hospital, her mother brought her poison so that she could complete the honor killing herself. They said that her brother might get into trouble so they wanted her gone.

She (and her baby, who was born while she was suffering from burns) were rescued by European aid workers who talked the parents into letting her go to Europe by telling them that it would be a better place for her to die. They agreed to let her go when it was put to them this way.

She and her baby son were adopted separately, as I recall. She found him later (when he was over 18) after she was married and the mother of two daughters in Europe.

Honor killing is part of the Arab culture.

This author, Souad who claims to have written a memoir 'Burned Alive' is a fake, moreover, the charity (Foundation Surgir) that supposedly helped her escape from Palestine is a dubious IDF linked one. It is most likely a Mossad operation to discredit Palestine.

Thérèse Taylor reveiws 'Burned Alive' the book this liar wrote, extracts below:

A review of Burned Alive by Thérèse Taylor

In recent years, two best-selling titles have appeared on the subject of honor killing in the Arab world. Norma Khouri's Forbidden Love (also published under the title Honor Lost) and "Souad's" Burned Alive were both published in 2003. In that fateful year, while the international media raced us toward the invasion of Iraq, these books evidently met a public appetite for information about the Middle East.

Both are entirely undocumented memoirs, which ask the reader to take the story on trust. In the case of Forbidden Love, this trust was misplaced. The book was set in Jordan, and an investigation by Jordanian women's rights activists showed that the author was a complete fake, having lived in America all her life and invented the story. Burned Alive, by contrast, has not been subject to public scrutiny. It is, however, a controversial text.

The Charity

In order to understand this book, one needs to look at the people who are promoting it. One reason why Burned Alive has been accepted without any form of documentation is because of the understanding that the anonymous tale is supported by reputable charities. As one reviewer noted, "Souad's story has been verified by Fondation Surgir."

Fondation Surgir is a privately owned Swiss foundation created in recent years. A notice appears in each copy of Burned Alive asking readers to donate for their work in rescuing women "throughout the world" who are menaced with violence. Its director is Jacqueline Thibault, the former Terre Des Hommes employee mentioned in the text. In a clear conflict of interest, the same person who verified the story is also the one recounting it. I wrote to Surgir inquiring about their charitable work. However, they declined to even name their board of trustees, and ended the correspondence.

----------------

Several leading Palestinian women's rights activists did not know of Fondation Surgir, and the only account I could find of their work in the West Bank indicated that they were working with the administration set up by the Israeli Defense Forces. This link with the Israeli occupation authorities is not mentioned on the Surgir Web site.

----------------

I asked the Swiss charities if they could substantiate any of the grave charges against Palestinian social workers and medical staff that are made in Burned Alive. Fondation Surgir flatly refused to enter into any discussion. Terre Des Hommes, who have directed funds toward Fondation Surgir, would not provide any project reports giving details of the activities. Nor would Terre Des Hommes give a statement, in writing and on letterhead, as to whether the story told in Burned Alive is true in all respects.
-------------

Ultimately, the last word might be given to Souad, who commented that many of her memories are like scenes from a film. When reading Burned Alive, I did find myself in agreement that "it sometimes doesn't seem real."

Drag Code Pink into the discussion, even money they advocate she's a) a Zionist spy and b) should be returned to face rough justice from the crowd.

Empress Trudy,

Nice try at obfuscation. You don't seem to care for facts. This was a set up, otherwise why hasn't the Foundation responded to requests for information? There is no proof whatsoever of Souad's claims.

Are you inferring i'm Code Pink? I am not.

But this Souad character is a liar. Her lies are documented, read the link I posted. She claimed her sister was strangled by a phone cord when phone service didn't exist in the village she claimed she was in.

This is not the first time, this has happened. That time not many people were aware of the lies and obfuscations and tricks used by Mossad.

That is not the case today. Keep your tricks and lies, or be prepared to face the consequences.

I pity you.

FYI, the only reason you hate Jews is because Mohammed was a poor sport and didn't like being rejected by them when he claimed the status of "prophet".

God does not advocate violence against people. He certainly doesn't advocate violence against innocents. Your level of ignorance and hypocrisy is embarrassing, really.

I'll pray for you tonight. Best of luck upon your death from this physical world and you are forced to stand judgement from God when you have to explain why you advocated violence and murder against His chosen people.
