Breaking: Mossad strikes again? Iranian F-14 fighter jet crashes near Bushehr

An Iranian F-14 fighter jet mysteriously crashed shortly after takeoff on Thursday morning. Near Bushehr.
An Iranian military plane crashed in the early hours of Thursday near the Gulf coast, the semi-official Fars news agency reported, saying no reason had yet been given for the incident.

"An F-14 crashed three minutes after take-off at 4:30 a.m. (8 p.m. ET) near the city of Bushehr," Fars reported, citing a local government official.
Hmmm.

Admittedly, Iran has problems maintaining its planes and therefore this may not have even been sabotage. But hmmm....

Israel Radio reports that both pilots were killed.

@Carl,
iran has been plagued by maintenance troubles for decades.
F14s are old but very powerful fighter planes.
The lack of proper spare parts as well as sabotage might explain this event

Trumpeldor,

Yes.

In fact, the next to last paragraph (where I talked about maintenance) was supposed to have a link to here: http://israelmatzav.blogspot.com/2011/01/breaking-iran-air-crash-with-95.html

I am putting it in now.

Not only the above: supposing it had crashed INTO Bushehr??

It's not impossible that this is sabotage but given that they've been cut off from US tech. support and spares for decades, they've supposedly only been able to keep maybe around 20 of their F-14s flyable. At least, that's what other supposedly informed websites say. It's the proverbial spit and bailing wire situation. I think it more likely the 30 year old fighter, with probably an under-trained, under-practiced Iranian pilot, just reached the point in it's lifespan where a major system or systems failed, with or without pilot-error help.

It ought to give some comfort that in any reasonably forseeable scenario of an Israeli Air Force-Iranian Air Force air-to-air dust-up, the Iranian AF would be pretty much just good target practice for the Israelis.
