Israel rolls out the red carpet for Glenn Beck

Glenn Beck has arrived in Israel for his Restoring Courage events and the government has rolled out the red carpet.
Beck has scrapped plans to hold the rally on the Temple Mount after his security team warned him that “40,000 Muslims staring down” at the crowd might endanger them. He will hold two events – one at the Davidson Center at the southern edge of the Western Wall and the other in Safra Square, where Jerusalem’s municipal offices and city hall are located.

A staunch backer of Israel’s claim to all of Jerusalem, the Golan Heights and Judea and Samaria, he will visit communities in Samaria on Monday with the accompaniment of Likud Cabinet Ministers Moshe Ya’alon and Yuli Edelstein, along with Jewish Home Minister Rabbi/Dr. Daniel Hershkowitz and senior Likud Knesset Members who are strong nationalists.

Beck recently visited Israel to attend a Knesset panel, which invited to give his views on how to fight the international anti-Israel campaign that tries to show the Jewish State as being illegitimate.

During a visit to Gush Etzion, south of Jerusalem, Beck said that Jordan is the true state for Arabs living under the Palestinian Authority.
As part of his preparation for the rally, Beck visited the Auschwitz death camp.

Let's go to the videotape.

Meanwhile, Israel's Ashkenazi chief rabbi, Yona Metzger, has offered Beck his support.

Let's go to the videotape.

I believe Beck is sincere. I know that some of my readers disagree and that there is nothing Beck can say that will convince them. But my sense is that Beck is sincere

Carl, Yes I think he is sincere as well. There is not doubt he is pro-Israel and a philo-semite.

The problem with his old show is sometimes he would get ensnared in conspiracy theories revolving around a ghoulish George Soros.

I am not a fan at all of Soros. But the image of Soros behind the scenes, pulling strings to ensure Socialism triumphs is ridiculous. Even more so, the image of Soros as the foreigner, the eternal outsider has obvious anti-semitic motifs to anybody versed in Jewish history.

That his father did what he could to save his family during world war II has also been critiqued. Soros was not Kapa. He's kind of a rich idiot with a liberal bent, but to ascribe evil motives to this foreign puller of strings makes me cringe.

But I'm still a fan, a big fan, of Glen Beck.

There is also an event in Caesarea. This is part of an email I received yesterday:

TV personality Glenn Beck is kicking off his Restoring Courage campaign on August 21st at 8pm in the Caesarea Amphitheater. This event, as well as others taking place that week, will demonstrate to the world that Israel does not stand alone. Political and religious leaders from the US and other countries, including Senator Joe Lieberman, will be joining Beck for this amazing week of solidarity with Israel. At the kick-off in Caesarea, Beck will host Rabbi Shlomo Riskin, Pastor John Hagee and historian David Barton as guest speakers. This event will be televised and tens of millions of people around the world are expected to see it.

Beck is wonderful - a righteous gentile. He must be commended for listing his voice and the voices of those who understand the approaching firestorm against Israel.

I'm glad you believe Beck is sincere.

Carl, in the 2nd video, what archeological site is Beck standing in front of and what is the message of the video graphics going through that opening to reach the display of the "Restoring Courage" Jerusalem logo?

Remember, Beck is sincere. You said so.
