Time for Jewish men to get out of the basement
Stella Paul wonders why Jewish men are cowering in the basement while Muslims rape and murder their women. In 1903, the great poet, Chaim Nachman Bialik, was sent to report on the Kishinev massacre of Jews in Russia. Bialik was shocked by what he learned of the men's passivity, as their women were raped and murdered before their eyes. He wrote a searing poem, "The City of Slaughter," excoriating the men hiding in the cellar, who silently watched their loved ones' destruction:Read the whole thing.
In that dark corner, and behind that cask
Crouched husbands, bridegrooms, brothers, peering from the cracks,
Watching the sacred bodies struggling underneath
The bestial breath,
Stifled in filth, and swallowing their blood!
Given the nature of our times, David Solway and Daniel Gordis have both written important essays on the relevance of Bialik's poem, which I urge you to read. For once again, here in America, too many Jewish men are crouching "in that dark corner," while Jewish women are attacked.
But oh, how their minds are busy! Political fantasies are spinning wildly in their heads. They're dreaming about "constructive engagement" and "dialogue with The Other" and "reframing the narrative." And should you rush in to defend Jewish women, they will finally leap into the fray -- to attack you!
You don't care about the peace process! You don't respect The Other! You want to impose your values on different cultures! You don't understand why they, trembling behind the casks, are so morally superior to hate-filled, brutish you!
Thus, in that corner, we find Rabbi Richard Jacobs, the new leader of the Reform Movement, beckoning his followers to crouch behind him. He gives the signal and millions of eyes look away, as a three-month-old baby girl, Hadas Fogel, is butchered in her crib, while her mother, Ruth, her father, Udi, and her young brothers, Yoav and Elad, bleed to death in the next rooms.
Rabbi Jacobs sighs, and writes another check to J Street, which lobbies Congress to not protest the Fogel murders.
In that corner, wave hello to Rabbi Marc Schneier, flush with money from Hollywood and the Hamptons. He's busy pushing his "interfaith dialogue" racket, The Foundation for Ethnic Understanding. Rabbi Schneier consults the caterer for his next gala affair, as Berkeley student Jessica Felber cries out under violent assault by the leader of Students for Justice in Palestine, and Hampshire College student Lihi Benisty suffers physical blows, death threats, and daily catcalls of "Zionist pig."
Rabbi Schneier decides on the apricot roasted chicken, then turns to the camera to sternly lecture us on why Jews must fight "Islamophobia."
And in that corner over there, why it's the grand old man of the Jewish establishment, Abe Foxman of the ADL! In Malmo, Sweden, 86-year-old Judith Popinski, an Auschwitz survivor, shudders and says, "I never thought I would see this hate again in my lifetime, not in Sweden anyway," as Jews flee violence from Muslim immigrants. Foxman puffs himself up behind the cask, and demands that Jews give money to help Muslims build mosques in America.
Ten years after 9/11, five years after the murder of Pamela Waechter, it's past time for Jewish men to get out of the basement. The first step: start telling the truth.

I am investing in a great thing...
It's called "brass, copper and lead ingots". As others (fellow jews) are buying gold coins, silver & diamonds. I shun those investments....

They are really quite a nice investment, they come in cases and I will admit they are quite heavy but i keep them at work, at home and even at a friends house.
They are the ultimate investment...
ANd now they come in different sized ingots...
My personal favorite is brass, copper and lead ingots in the ".223" size (as well as .556) they cost about $399 per 900 ingots...
I also invest in brass, copper and lead ingots in the following "sizes": .40, .38, .44, .45, 9mm & 12 "gauge"
Of course having the proper "applicator" helps....

When and if it gets to be a time when my fellow Jews are coming to the market with their little sacks of gold and silver MY big bag of .40 or .223 will be worth 10x as much...

Indeed! It is past time that we all started telling the truth - most especially to ourselves first, and also to the world.
Pamela Waechter and Victoria Hen’s deaths were a tragedy. Their killers are doing time, life sentences. I’ve no desire to justify or excuse their behaviour, but some things need clarifying, as certain people are ready to exploit tragedies like this.
It’s funny (but not surprising) how some of Stella Paul’s cretinous reader comments are linking the crimes to Islam, by comparing them to the Krishniev massacre and saying whilst Christianity reformed Islam hasn’t. That is a dangerous and stupid comparison. How ignorant can you get? The Krishniev massacre was inspired by Christianity, because they thought the Jews had killed a Ukrainian boy for his blood to make matzo’s. That was the inspiration behind that pogrom. Haq and Hedayet were both motivated by politics, namely their anger against Israel, and the USA.
As for Haq, the Seattle's Jewish Federation killer, he was a mental case, he had converted to Christianity in 2005, but called himself a Muslim when he killed. His police interviews record him saying:
"wanted the U.S. to leave Iraq, that his people had been mistreated."
And
"This is about the Jews and what they are doing. The Jews are running the country. This is about getting the U.S. out of Iraq. I am an American and I got no problem with America but we have to get out of Iraq. But we give bombs and guns and bunker-buster bombs to Israel and we shouldn't be doing it, it's got to stop, that's what this is all about."
Bear in mind that around 2005-2006 after the Iraq War, the US media did blame pro Israel neo cons for fabricating the evidence and for being behind the Iraq war. A mental nut like Haq was bound to come crawling out of the woodwork.
As for Hedayet…the “Read the Quran” on Hedayet’s door can be found on any Muslims door, even a non practicing pork eating Muslim. Investigators characterized the shooting as an act of terrorism because Hadayet espoused anti-Israeli views and was opposed to U.S. policy in the Middle East.
Politics not religion was the motivating factor here for both these men, no matter how hard the anti Islam brigade would like us to believe otherwise. It is not the case. This leads one to wonder, if America ever invades or goes to war with Israel, how many American Jews would take up terrorism against the state? or American targets worldwide?
There is no comparing these two lone individual incidents of murder to the mob planned massacre and rape that took place in Kishniev, near Ukraine. That was an organised pogrom where many Jews were killed and women were raped after one Easter holiday at the turn of the last century.

Stella was telling men to stop cowering in the basement. But she said nothing about Hedayet and Haq raping. They are killers not rapists.
Where does “Muslims rape” come into it?
Why is this tagged “religion of rape”? Oh and regarding the “religion of rape” tag, it needs updating, here is a more worthy contender!

Over half of Israeli men - 61 percent - do not consider forcing sex on an acquaintance as rape, a study conducted by Tel-Hai Academic College recently found.
When asked about rape by an acquaintance, 38 percent of women and 20 percent of men thought the victim should file a police complaint.
