Government gives up revenue source

Electricity prices are set to rise 12.5% next week, instead of 19.5% requested by the Israel Electric Company. The 7% “discount” came as a result of the Treasury deciding not to impose additional taxes on diesel fuel. Final permission for the increase was given by a joint Finance and Environment Ministry committee. What could go wrong?
The increase is due to the rise in the price of oil on world markets, which has again struck the $100 a barrel level.
