Today in history

This came from a friend who occasionally sends out "this day in history" type updates, usually with a Jewish theme.
Today in 1716, the Resolution arrived in Boston Harbor from England with over 100 Jews. The century old Pilgrim ban on Jews in the Massachusetts Bay Colony was officially broken.

Within 50 years time, Jews would be at the forefront of the Independence movement, and would eventually finance the entire Continental Army during the war of independence. King George openly regretted the error of permitting Jews right of settlement, in retrospect.
The more things change....

By the way, for those of you in Suffolk County, Massachusetts, Happy Bunkah Hill Day.

If anybody is ever visiting Boston, go down to Newport, Rhode Island and visit the Tuoro Synagogue. A group of Jews had moved down to Newport because of Massachusetts' original exclusion of them. But, when people join in peacefully, Americans respond warmly.

George Washington visited there and he wrote them the most enlightened letter:

The interchange was like a domestic treaty of friendship for the American people.

BTW, I have an ancestor who was in the Boston Massacre... they were a bunch of rock throwers (peaceful protestors, dontcha know!), possibly had been drinking, early in the day...

Wow! How interesting! As you say the more things change...; King George's descendant, Charles, is a Jew-hating mozlem-lover who thinks we should all "return" to 7th century arabia.

This is a lie. Prince Charles is an Islamophile but he is no Jew hater. Only a narrow minded bigot would equate an Islamophile as being a Jew hater, when the two religions are so similar, almost the same.

Even Prince Charles has made that observation. British Jews consider him to be a FRIEND not a Jew hater.

You slander good people. Why would he make a personal contribution to this (see below) and other Jewish causes if he was a Jew hater?

I think an apology is in order here, Juniper.

Prince Charles opens Jewish community centre in Krakow

Prince Charles made a "substantial contribution" to financing the centre worth 1.5 million pounds (1.9 million euros, 2.96 million dollars) according to its director, Jonathan Ornstein.

The five-story centre was built in the grounds of the Tempel synagogue in Krakow’s old Jewish quarter.
