Five Russian nuke scientists who worked on Bushehr die in plane crash

Five Russian nuclear scientists, who were involved in Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant, were killed in a plane crash in northern Russia on Thursday.
Technical failure of the plane has been ruled out. Five Russian scientists who assisted in the design of Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant were among the 44 fatalities of Monday's Russian plain crash, Moscow's International News Agency RIA Novosti reported Thursday.

The Tupolev-134 plane broke up and caught fire upon making an emergency landing outside the northern city of Petrozavodsk. A preliminary investigation ruled out the possibility of a technical failure.

Three of the experts – Sergei Rizhov, Gennadi Benyok, and Nicolai Tronov – were among the atom facility's designers. Andrei Trokinov, a top Russian nuclear technological expert, was also killed, as was Valery Lalyn, another nuclear expert.

The five worked at Bushehr and were to ensure the facility would withstand natural disasters.

The five were employed by Hydropress, a member-organization of Russia's State Nuclear Corporation. Hydropress is one of the main companies involved in the construction of the Bushehr nuclear power plant, and is also involved in projects in China, India and Bulgaria.
The crash was described as a 'great blow' to Russia's nuclear industry.

The Mossad wouldn't do something like that, would it?

Hmmm.

Of course not. Steven Spielberg would be displeased.

In all honesty, I would hope not. Tell me about the other 40 people who deserved it.

This is not a signature of a Mossad hit. It's a Tupolev, for disaster's sake! But now there's a clear-cut scapegoat for the crash of this winged lemon.

Tsk, Carl you don't suppose G-d had something to do with it, don't you? I'm kind of surprised you didn't mention it!

He does move in mysterious ways.

Heh

Carl, I'm surprised and disappointed you'd even suggest this as a possible Mossad op. I can't even imagine the Mossad, knowing all those innocents would also be aboard, doing such an act.

The Iranians, the Russian KGB/SVR, the Chinese, the North Koreans-all these regimes are morally capable of such an action. Technical capability, motive and opportunity are another question.

I agree with Shy Guy. Tupolev airliners have a wretched flight safety record. I'd rather fly on a 50 yr old Boeing 707, or for that matter one of the hundred or so 70 yr old DC-3s still flying, than anything Tupolev has ever designed and built.

Technical failure of the plane has been ruled out? Sez who? Somebody who has a vested interest in whitewashing the safety record of the Tupolev?

Valid plane-crash investigations take a lot of time and they take independent experts who know forensics and failure analysis.

Neither official spokesmen nor the media have any business making pronouncements on the cause of any airline crash or other aviation incident until all of the facts are in. And they're never in this soon.
