Why American Jewish organizations are defending Obama

Caroline Glick looks at the strange phenomenon that Linkwe've seen over the past week, in which the ADL and StandWithUs(!) both issued statements supporting President Barack Hussein Obama. You really have to read the whole thing - I didn't even know that StandWithUs had issued a statement supporting him. That's a huge disappointment. Here are Caroline's explanations for why the Jewish organizations are behaving this way:
It would seem that there are three possible explanations.

The first explanation is fear. Several American Jewish philanthropists have mentioned over the past two years that they fear Obama. If he is reelected, they worry that since he will no longer need Jewish political contributions, he might strike out at Jewish-owned businesses the way he struck out at Republican-owned General Motors car dealerships when he nationalized GM. If they attack Obama for his positions on Israel, they worry that they will give him further justification for going after them.

...

The second, perhaps more plausible, explanation is that Jewish leaders are concerned that their fellow American Jews are more attached to their identity as Democrats than they are to their identity as Jews. True, the overwhelming majority of American Jews express firm support for Israel. A poll carried out last week for the Committee for Accuracy in Middle Eastern Reporting in America (CAMERA) found that support for Israel is nearly unanimous among American Jews.

Yet neither the CAMERA poll nor previous surveys by the American Jewish Committee or Brandeis which had similar findings asked respondents to weigh their support for Israel against support for the Democratic Party. So it is possible that leaders are worried that if they oppose Obama's anti-Israel positions too strongly, they will lose some support.

...

The third reason why U.S. Jewish leaders may be defending Obama's positions on Israel is because the Israeli left defends his position on Israel. In the face of Obama's latest baiting of Netanyahu, opposition leader Tzipi Livni attacked Netanyahu and accused him of destroying Israel's relations with the U.S. She and her followers also defended Obama's policies. Many American Jewish leaders must certainly believe that they cannot be more pro-Israel than the Israeli left.
I would say that all three explanations - or a combination of them - are plausible. Or maybe it's just the poritz syndrome. But read the whole thing.

If you read the StandWithUs statement again they are not protecting Obama but giving a sigh of relief that he backtracked a bit. Also read their statement from his State Dept. Speech which was quite harsh. I think Caroline was jumping the gun a bit with this one.

If the immigration bill he is planning will give an amnesty to illegal immigrants, then that is yet another reason Obama need not fear losing his current base of voters.

The Catholic vote is probably more important, yet you dont' hear them making a big noise about it, or maybe that's why Obama went to Ireland.

My question is and has been, being of Jewish descent myself, I can't help but wonder how the Jewish population here in the U.S. keeps voting for Anti-Semitic liars, yet every polling day they somehow blindly rush to do so. In turn, we now have an administration that appears more than happy to watch Israel be eradicated. "As Ye sow, so shall Ye reap". We are now witnessing the harvest of a seed that was planted centuries ago, nurtured over years and years, blooming every now and then (Nazi Germany for example) and now is in fact at full bloom.

I'm not sure what the answer is, but it sure as hell isn't the Anti-Semite in the White House anymore that it is the self hating Jews who helped elect him. Israel and in turn Western Civilization as we know it is in grave danger. The Muslims are candid about this while we here in Obama land are being told to accept it by our sad sack leaders! Yet, this could have been stopped if the electorate had just taken their responsibilities as voters seriously! When the President and his minions speak of Israel and the Mid-East, I sense pure open hatred for Israel. I point out that's how I feel. I only know when I watch this clown speak and look at his eyes, I see hate. And that is a bad thing to see in anyone's leader.

My only question now? Will the Jewish population in this country now come to their senses and stop marching in lockstep with the very politicians that actually hold them in utter disdain? Hell, I’ve seen over and over people saying (including O’Reiley) that the American Jewish population would still deliver at least 65 to 70 percent of their votes to the President and his Anti-Semite leftist party! This is from an earlier post of mine:

Can the above really be true? Is the Jewish American population completely brain dead? Are they so completely screwed up in their heads that they believe for one moment that the atrocities we see aimed day after day at Israel will not be aimed at them once Israel is destroyed? Do they think for one moment a President that openly embraces a radical element bent on the elimination of the Jewish people will even try to stop the insurrection that is already making itself evident around the country? This same slow creeping cancer that is the Anti-Jewish sentiment is exactly the same as Nazi Germany. The similarities are there for all to see. Of course, I and others will be vilified for even having the audacity to compare our President to Hitler, yet he is allowing this to happen. Between his perceived hate for the Jews (again, this is how I see it!) and his Chaimberlain like stance of “I believe they’ll negotiate in good faith” belief in the radical Muslims who are now apparently running things (this clown really does believe in his heart radicals can be reasoned with. I’ve never figured this out, yet year after year morons think one can deal with hateful radicals. Can’t be done!) Israel, All Jews and if someone will finally get their heads out of their asses and realize, Western civilization as we know it are in deep danger!

forget the American Jewish leaders. They were deafeningly silent during the Shoah

A lot ("most"?) of the mainstream Jewish organizations have long been a permanent wing of the Democrat Party. If the Jewish organizations want to be non-aligned community groups, they will have to reformulate themselves from the bottom up. Their alignment with the (D)s has grown more egregious over the years as the (D) Party has been eaten by the marcuse marxist hard left (aka, old hippies). The stands they take are in the writings of marxists, not the Torah. And voting (R) is counted as a sin. As I've said before, the Israelis I've known have been no different in the leftist departments. So, bottom line, Jews in the U.S. and Israel, who can see the disaster that marxism is, need a Jewish umbrella... a leadership opportunity for Israeli rabbis, etc... But they don't like us either, so I guess it is a move to the mountains.

Somewhere along the line you seem to have blurred the borders between the USA and Israel. None of the American political parties are supposed to represent one religion. The separation of state
and religion in the USA was one of the principles of it's founding.

That is why the Christian Supremacists will never have a Christian theocracy there. The "marxist" Democrat party is more in line with American values.

Even the Republican party
at it's most conservative did not differ that much from Democrats.

There is little difference between the two major parties in the USA.

So, bottom line, Jews in the U.S. and Israel, who can see the disaster that marxism is, need a
Jewish umbrella... a leadership opportunity for Israeli rabbis

You seem to think Israel is an extension of the USA? Israel and the USA are two different countries.

A theocracy may work in Israel by popular choice, assuming
secularists decided to become religious, as the foundations are there, but never in the USA.

Again, the founding fathers of the USA did not want the religious
dogma that pervaded Christian Europe for centuries to guide the constitution, and which hindered their progress.
