The statesman tries to mollify the President

Rather than treating him like an outcast, the statesman tries to make the President feel like he didn't royally screw up.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today (Sunday, May 22), expressed his appreciation for US President Barack Obama's remarks at the AIPAC Policy Conference. "I share the President's wish to promote peace and I appreciate his past and present efforts to achieve this goal. I am determined to work with President Obama in order to find ways to resume the peace negotiations. Peace is a vital necessity for us all," the Prime Minister said.
What could go wrong?

Carl - you know they're never going to happen.

Netanyahu is saving face for the President.

Would Abu Bluff do it? Not on your life!

How exactly is an Israeli Prime Minister supposed to treat the president of the United States like an outcast, even if he wanted to???

I don't think Bibi was wrong in his statement today and I also don't think Obama gave this incredibly anti-Israel speech that you made it out to be, at least not in the context of U.S. policy since Oslo.

OK, here's a question.

In April, 2010, two months after Obama demands and presses Israel for a Jerusalem building freeze, Obama's flight plans to Europe are disrupted by a volcano in Iceland.

In May, 2011, after Obama publicly calls for pre-'67 lines as a basis for negotiation with the PA, Obama's flight plans to Europe are disrupted by a volcano in Iceland.

What are the odds?

I haven't read this anywhere yet, but I am sure someone will post something somewhere.
