Osama Bin Laden's home videos

Over the weekend, the Obama administration released five home videos from Osama Bin Laden's hideout. The videos were released without sound so as not to broadcast Bin Laden's anti-American messages after his death, but that meant that it was more difficult to make an independent assessment of Bin Laden's words and tone.

Here's an ABC News report about the videos. Let's go to the videotape.

Here's the first of those five videos, a message to the United States that is believed to have been filmed between October 9 and November 5, 2010. If anyone can read the Arabic on the screen, please give a holler.

Let's go to the videotape.

Here's the second video; it's Osama watching himself on television.

Let's go to the videotape.

The remaining three videos appear to be practice sessions, possibly for the first video. In each of them he appears to stumble in his speech, stop and begin over. You can see more about them (and find links to them) here.

In the video of him watching videos, he looks quite old. They said that when they killed him last week, he was all gray. He was born the same year that I was and I have almost no gray. Heh.
