Outside of Israel's leftist elite circles, Netanyahu's speech was favorably received by Israelis.
Unanimous? Maybe in the circles Ethan Bronner knows.
But not in mainstream Israel.
Heh
The predicate that Bibi had a "widely articulated goal" to "find a way to lure the Palestinians back to direct negotiations" is on its head whatever left-wing quotes can be snagged from the Times rolodex. While Israel is 100% behind Bibi's campaign to thwart UN recognition in September it backs Bibi's "'widely articulated" refusal to give in to Palestinian extortion with unilateral concessions to restart another useless round of games with these banana republic Nazis (who would go to the UN anyways). If parents of a child who was kidnapped tell Inspector Clouseau they would like to prevent their abducted child from being harmed or smuggled out of the state, that does not mean they are willing to pay the kidnappers blood money.
The article would make a surprising amount of sense by changing one word in the title:
"Israelis see trip as diplomatic success"
