What a divided Jerusalem would look like (God forbid)

A lot of people think that dividing Jerusalem is easy. After all, the Arab neighborhoods go to the 'Palestinians' and the Jewish neighborhoods to the Jews, right? Well, it's been nearly 44 years since the Six Day War, and like everything else in this country, nothing is so simple anymore.

The picture above is Asael Street in Abu Tor. The former border runs smack down the middle of it. Take a tour of Asael Street by going here.

Its a ridiculous idea because now Jews live right next to Arabs. How are you going to unscramble this human omlette? The human and financial costs of taking apart the pieces are prohibitive. The notion east Jerusalem is principally Arab may have been true a generation ago but Israeli governments massively settled the eastern half of the city with Jews after the Six Day War to prevent it from ever being re-divided again.

Its not going to happen in our lifetime.
