Krauthammer: 'Israel has given away its claim to the West Bank'
In a wide-ranging interview with Mordechai Twersky, Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer talks about Iran, the 'Palestinians,' the Obama administration and more. But this is perhaps the key assertion:Charles Krauthammer, the Pulitzer Prize-winning syndicated columnist and political commentator, believes Israel has “given away” its claim to the West Bank and may also be 'losing' what he called the “battle to hang on to Jerusalem.”Krauthammer believes that Israel gave up its claims when it signed the Oslo Accords.
“Israel's diplomacy, unfortunately, tragically, catastrophically ... has given away the legitimacy of its claim on the West Bank,” Krauthammer told “Inside Israel's” Mordechai Twersky in a wide-ranging phone interview, April 12. “Now you have to face reality; now you live in a new world, and you have to accept it.”
Let's go to the videotape.
There's much more about this interview here.
I am not as defeatist as Krauthammer. First, I believe that he overstates the Arab demographic. Given the opportunity, many Arabs would leave, and hopefully many will. But even if they don't, the numbers have been misportrayed in the media. The 'Palestinian' numbers are a lie.
Second, what's crucial is what happens over the next two years - and that Obama loses his re-election bid. If Obama wins, we'll be lucky to have a state at all. Unless God decides otherwise.
