Britain's Taxpayers Alliance claps 'al cheit'

The Vilna Gaon (genius) said that Purim is like Yom Kippur, so I hope you won't mind a post on Purim that draws on Yom Kippur.

On Yom Kippur we stand before God and confess our sins. The main confession is a series of alphabetized sentences, which each start with the words al cheit (for the sin). As you say al cheit, you pound your heart with your right fist. Thus in the Jewish community, when we want to say that someone is confessing their sins, we say that they clap (hit) al cheit.

The British Taxpayers Alliance, a noble group that has taken upon itself, among other things, to examine how their government wastes money on the 'Palestinians,' is clapping al cheit over their government's role in educating the terrorists who murdered five Jews from one family in Itamar last week.
What is really disgusting is that a lot of that incitement is carried out by organisations which depend on our money. The Palestinian Authority takes generous cheques from the British Government and others year in, year out. Last time we looked at the issue we found that funding was nearly £100 million in 2007-08. That’s a huge amount of money. Given that the Palestinian population is only about 4 million that means every single Palestinian is getting about £25 from Britain alone. Lots of other Western countries are generous donors too.

It’s bad enough when our money is wasted, but when it supports organisations whose dangerous rhetoric prolongs a violent conflict, and makes crimes like this more likely, that is utterly unacceptable.
Indeed, it is. We can only hope that the Taxpayers Alliance will prevail upon its own government and others to take a serious look at where their money is going.

Read the whole thing.

Slightly OT

In the UK, also known as the Crazy Uncle of the West. It appears that muslims4uk have asked Bedfordshire police to investigate Melanie Phillips for calling the Fogel murderers, “savages”.

Fwiw, The Bedfordshire Police is the same one that went after Paul Ray aka "Lionheart".

For those who are interested, the non-emergency number for Bedfordshire police is 01234 841212

Pleasantly surprised to read here that there is at least "one person" with some common sense over at the British Taxpayers Alliance.
