Erekat: Abu Mazen made a counter-offer to Olmert

Here's recently retired 'Palestinian' chief negotiator bottle washer Saeb Erekat on Israel's Channel 2 on Sunday night, claiming that 'moderate' 'Palestinian' President Mahmoud Abbas Abu Mazen made a counter-offer to then-Prime Minister Ehud K. Olmert's widely publicized peace offer.

Let's go to the videotape.

So if this is true, why haven't we heard about it before? Aaron Lerner suggests that it's because it would have exposed the whole 'peace process' as a sham.
Why doesn't Prime Minister Olmert mention this in his narrative?

Is it because the Palestinian proposal was so far beyond anything acceptable in Israel that revealing the details would show the Olmert’s claim that a deal could indeed be cut is a fantasy and that the only thing Olmert's own generous offer achieved was to erode Israel's red lines in Palestinian and American eyes?
Well, maybe. But I don't believe the offer was ever made. First, Erekat is speaking in English. Anything these people say in English is meaningless. Let him tell his own 'people' in Arabic what Abu Bluff offered and then we will look at it.

Second, if Abu Bluff made a counter-offer, why didn't he tell Jackson Diehl about it in May 2009, instead of letting Diehl make him out like the war mongerer he is.

No, Erekat is lying through his teeth. As usual.

It ended up in the same closet Hillary Clinton's Whitewater billing records were, um, discovered in. Arafat's counterproposals are there too, along with a genuine relic of the true cross, and a winter sled named Rosebud.

He's lying.

Whatever one thinks of Ehud K. Olmert, Olmert has been on the record as saying he never heard back from Abu Bluff. If there had been a counter-offer, it would have been in the news. The Palestinians never made one.
