Wayne State University abolishes award named for Helen Thomas
As a result of her anti-Semitic remarks at a Detroit anti-bias forum, Wayne State University has abolished an award called the 'Spirit of Diversity in the Media' award, which was named for Helen Thomas (Hat Tip: Newsbusters). Wayne State condemned the remarks. Robert Cohen, executive director of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Metropolitan Detroit, said WSU made the right call, adding he found it ironic that Thomas' remarks came at an event to address "negative stereotyping of members of the Arab community."Yid with Lid reports that the National Arab American Journalists Association issued a statement accusing Wayne State of violating Thomas' right to free speech by taking away the award.
Thomas could not be reached Friday.
She retired -- and apologized -- in June after a video captured her saying Jews should "get the hell out of Palestine" and go home to "Poland, Germany and America and everywhere else."
Matthew Seeger, an interim dean, said the award by the Journalism Institute for Media Diversity is to honor work that promotes diversity. The award, he said, "is no longer helping us achieve our goals."
The National Arab American Journalists Association Saturday denounced the decision to Wayne State University to terminate its annual Helen Thomas Spirit of Diversity Award, calling the move a cowardly act surrendering to racist hate.Yid with Lid has video of Thomas' entire speech (a bit over 7:00) here.
Wayne State University, which has a large American Arab student population located in the heart of the nation's largest American Arab community, took the action in the face of pressure from Pro-Israel hate organizations angry because Helen Thomas expressed an opinion criticizing the influence of Zionist American organizations on American Foreign Policy.

proof if any needed that "Arab American" criticism of "Zionist hate" is firmly founded on degraded anti-Semitic stereotypes: Zionists, jooz, it's all the same with these chimpanzees, they run everything and are responsible for the Arabams' lack of prehensile thumbs --the degree of hyphenation in the Arab-American crowd (including CAIR of course) is open to debate--how many of these activists actually have a green card, much less American citizenship to go with their bananas?

and her comments about eisenhower regarding the suez crisis show ignorance regarding the entire event
and its funny...jew haters love to point at the liberty incident as proof of eisenhower being a closet zionist....guess she didnt get the memo
