How to get online in the US

I started to write this post sitting in a car outside the local public library. But now I have gotten invited in from the cold and am posting from a friend's apartment.

Public libraries have free wireless broadband. So do cafes and some restaurants.

If you live in a home or an apartment, in the US you will likely have a wireless broadband modem serving as a router that is connected over an encrypted network through PCs either equipped with a built in wireless card or a USB wireless dongle.

No more need to have an Ethernet cable to hook up to the PC unless you need to set up your wireless card first. Now its dirt cheap since you no longer need to purchase phone service to use it.

Heh
