Great news: Little rump king looking to improve ties with Iran

How little confidence do the region's Arab rulers have in the Obama administration's willingness to protect them from Iran? Little enough that the little rump king of Jordan, considered one of America's staunchest allies in the region, is going to Tehran to suck up to Ahmadinejad.
Jordan's King Abdullah II on Sunday said he is seeking "practical steps" for improving his country's frosty relations with Iran.

The monarch's appeal contrasted with his regime's frequent criticism of Iran's policies.

Abdullah made the appeal for better ties during a meeting with Esfandiar Rahim Mashai, the director of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's office, according to an official Jordanian statement. It said Abdullah was invited to visit Teheran.
If Barack Obama can 'engage' with Iran, why can't King Abdullah II? What could go wrong?

UPDATE 4:31 PM

I've been corrected by reader Eliyahu G:
Just wanted to point out that arafat was a distant cousin of the Mufti, Haj Amin el-Husseini, not Husseini's nephew. This is a common error. Don't know where it got started. Ehud Yaari writes in his book, Strike Terror [circa 1970] that they were distant cousins. Faisal Husseini's father, Abdel-Kader Husseini, was a nephew of the Mufti. Leila Shahid, the PLO/PA mouthpiece in France, a really championess of big lies, is a grandaughter of the Mufti.
The whole family sounds like trouble to me.

Thank you Eliyahu!
