Who's responsible?

Aviva Shalit, the mother of kidnapped IDF corporal Gilad Shalit, has sent a letter to Prime Minister Netanyahu.
Aviva Shalit, the mother of kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit, sent a letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu marking 1,600 days since her son fell in Hamas captivity, and wrote: "I don't know what else to say for you to wake up.

"Gilad is alive in Gaza. I don't know if he will be alive tomorrow. You and only you are responsible for his life. Please don’t share this responsibility with cabinets and generals, only to brush it off your own hands," the letter read.
I would say that Ismael Hanieyh and Hamas bear a lot more responsibility than Netanyahu does. They kidnapped Gilad Shalit, they are holding him, and apparently there is no reasonable price for which they will release him.

I may seem heartless, but I would publicly ask the Shalits 'What will you say to the victims of the prisoners released for your son?'

and 'if we know where he is being held, do you want a commando raid done, to free him?'

Israel, as a country and community cannot allow itself to be held hostage.

Agreed. I don't see Hamas making a deal on any terms Israel can live with and even if there was a deal, Hamas would not keep it.

The Shalits don't understand this and I feel sorry them and for all the pain, heartache and anguish this has resulted for them.

But the bottom line is their son is Hamas' insurance policy - he's of greater value to them than he is free and he's not going to be released any time soon.
