Video: Israeli and Italian Air Forces complete joint exercise
The Israeli and Italian Air Forces have completed a joint exercise on the Island of Sardinia. The Israeli and Italian air Forces concluded an extensive, two-week exercise in Sardinia today. Members from four Israel Air Force fighter squadrons participated in the exercise, “The Twin-Tail Knights” and “The Spearhead” flying F-15Cs and Ds from the Tel-Nof base, and the “Defenders Of The South” and “The Golden Eagle” squadrons from the Nevatim IAF base, flying F-16. The exercise was the first international training deployment of the “Eitam” (G550), an Early Warning & Control aircraft aircraft. The Italian element in the exercise played the ‘red team’ of adversary air force, challenging the Israelis with Eurofighter Typhoons, AMXs, Panavia Tornado and F-16s ‘aggressors’.Let's go to the videotape. Sorry but the narrative is Hebrew only.
For the first two minutes, the officer talks about their cooperation with the Italians and conditions they don't have in Israel (like rain? My gloss...).
The first plane you saw take off after the 4:00 mark is the Eitam command and control center. Here's a picture of it.
UPDATE 12:50 PM
It turns out that this post was my 18,000th post since starting this blog in January 2006. That's an average of more than 10 posts per day for nearly five years....

Is there a naming opportunity?
:)
You have got it wrong this time.
Eitan is a huge UAV used for data collection and communication relay.
Eitan on this video (or may be it is Eitam) is a modified Gulfstream 5 aircraft which is flying control center for IAF
