Job opening

Shavua tov, a good week to everyone.

In case any of you is looking for a job, I thought I would pass this along.
JOB OPENING - Institute for Palestine Studies Seeks Editor

IPS is looking for a mid- to senior level editor to join the Washington, DC team of its flagship, the Journal of Palestine Studies, an independent, scholarly quarterly published with University of California Press.

The successful candidate will have solid, in-depth knowledge of Palestine and the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict; significant editorial experience; the ability to assess the quality and relevance of manuscript submissions; demonstrated organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills to manage work and manuscript flows; and the ability to work well and accurately under pressure.

S/he will be meticulous, reliable, motivated, flexible, highly organized, and have sound political/editorial judgment and the ability to manage networks of contributors across the U.S. and internationally. Good communication and coordination skills also required for close followup with the editorial committee. Advanced degree preferred, knowledge of Arabic an advantage.

Salary commensurate with experience; excellent benefits package; room for advancement. Relocation expenses to Washington are not covered.

Submit letter of application, resume, writing samples, salary requirements, references by 31 December 2010 to employment@palestine-studies.org

No phone calls, please.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS
I suppose that 'sound political/editorial judgment' means that anyone who's pro-Israel won't qualify. But if any of you wants to apply, I'd be happy to recommend you.

By the way, what the heck are 'Palestine studies'? How can you study something that doesn't exist and never has existed?

Heh.

Palestine? What Palestine?

Run that one by me again.

Its one of those subjects that specialize in the irrelevant and the absurd.

It should be added to the list of profitable oxymorons in "Foucault Pendulum" that will be bring much mirth but little true intellectual understanding.
