Abu Mazen accuses Iran of sabotaging peace

'Moderate' 'Palestinian' President Mahmoud Abbas Abu Mazen has accused Iran of using local Islamist elements to sabotage the 'peace process.'

Given that the 'peace process' is currently suspended because Abu Mazen suspended it over the lack of a 'settlement freeze,' it's not clear to me how Ahmadinejad is using 'Islamist elements' to sabotage the 'peace process.' Is Abu Mzen implying that he wants to back off his demand for a 'full settlement freeze,' but Hamas will not let him? If so, that might be a pretty interesting prospect.

But given Ahmadinejad's close relationship with Hamas kingpin Khaled Meshaal (pictured), it's probably not realistic to expect Ahmadinejad ever not to try to sabotage the 'peace process.' If we can only have a 'peace process' when Ahmadinejad is not trying to sabotage it, I guess we won't have a peace process.

A pity, isn't it?
