How Israel's legacy media treats our friends

Dutch politician Geert Wilders was in Berlin on Saturday night to speak to the Berlin parliament. Pam Geller has his full remarks here, and my purpose in this post is not to rehash them (although I will quote from them briefly - to prove a point). My purpose is to let you know the appalling manner in which Israel Radio reported the story of Wilders' speech.

Israel Radio did not report on Wilders' words at all. Instead, it reported on a small demonstration that took place outside the Berlin parliament where Wilders spoke. In a report that was undoubtedly a translation of a report carried by al-AP or al-Reuters, Israel Radio suggested that Wilders is a racist. It spent nearly as much time reporting that Wilders is going on trial on Monday in Holland for 'incitement' against Muslims. It reported - correctly - that Wilders' PVV will be supporting Holland's new government from the outside rather than being a part of it. (Wilders doesn't seem at all disappointed, and his party did get some important concessions, but I am disappointed that Wilders will not be part of the government).

It did not mention that Geert Wilders is one of Israel's strongest supporters in Europe. If you had landed here from Mars on Saturday night, you would have thought that Wilders is a racist who is trying to take over Holland. But Wilders is not a racist. He raises uncomfortable questions about political Islam's goals in Europe and he supports Israel. This is from his speech in Berlin on Saturday night (as noted, the full speech is at Pam Geller's site).
I am very happy to be here in Berlin today to give this message which is extremely important, especially in Germany. Whatever happened in your country in the past, the present generation is not responsible for it. Whatever happened in the past, it is no excuse for punishing the Germans today. But it is also no excuse for you to refuse to fight for your own identity. Your only responsibility is to avoid the mistakes of the past. It is your duty to stand with those threatened by the ideology of Islam, such as the State of Israel and your Jewish compatriots. The Weimar Republic refused to fight for freedom and was overrun by a totalitarian ideology, with catastrophic consequences for Germany, the rest of Europe and the world. Do not fail to fight for your freedom today.
Okay, his absolving the Germans is a bit too broad for my tastes. But his words about Israel should be heeded by Europeans everywhere. But for Pam's posting it, would we have even known what he said?

Looks like Israel Radio would prefer to be Radio Filistin, but of course they could not work there as they are Jews!
Kapo traitors!

Israel's leftist media does a good job of making the Palestinians look very reasonable and painting its own government as an ogre. Why then should we be surprised that it treats Israel's best friends in Europe with such shabby contempt?

The biggest obstacle to Israel getting a fair hearing in the world is Israel's own media. At times it makes Al-Jazeera and the international MSM look fair-minded by comparison.

What could go wrong indeed

What kind of conspiracy is going on that virtually no media is reporting the story of our brave hero Geert Wilders? I have just cancelled my newspaper subscription because of the lack of mention about Geert. I thank the blogger at this site.
