US may issue travel alert to Americans in Europe

This has been the second-biggest headline on Israel Radio all night (after the PLO call to end the 'direct talks'). The US State Department is considering issuing a travel advisory warning Americans in Europe to be vigilant against a possible al-Qaeda attack against tourist centers in large European cities.
The State Department is expected to announce the travel alert as early as Sunday morning, the officials said.

The officials said the State Department was never considering issuing a travel warning, which advises Americans to stay away from the countries involved.

Still, the move could have negative implications for European tourism if travelers fear there's a possibility of terror attacks.

A European official briefed on the talks told the Associated Press that the language in the U.S. alert is expected to be vague; it won't address a specific country or specific landmarks.
It's believed that Osama Bin Laden himself is behind the planned attacks.

I can't feel sorry for the Europeans. During the entire Oslo War here they made every Israeli sports team involved in European competitions play its 'home games' in Europe. They refused to come here.
