ADL accuses Roger Waters of anti-Semitism

The Anti-Defamation League has accused former Pink Floyd lead singer Roger Waters of anti-Semitism.
During his performances of 'Goodbye Blue Sky', an animated scene projects images of planes dropping bombs in the shape of Jewish Stars of David followed by dollar signs, the ADL said.

While Waters had every right to express his political views about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through his music and stagecraft, the images he has chosen had crossed a line into anti-Semitism, Foxman said.

"We wish that Waters had chosen some other way to convey his political views without playing into and dredging up the worst age-old anti-Semitic stereotype about Jews and their supposed obsession with making money," he said.
Okay, let's look at the performance. This was taped in Toronto's Air Canada Center two weeks ago.

Let's go to the videotape.

I have to tell you that there were a lot of other symbols there beside a Star of David and a dollar sign. The real problem is that Waters is a vocal critic of Israel and he has a history of demonstrative acts against Israel (even though I can recall being caught in a horrific traffic jam caused by a concert of his here in Israel a few years ago).
Waters is a vocal critic of Israel's policies and his 2010-2011 'The Wall Live' Tour that takes aim at Israel’s West Bank security fence.

...

Waters used a 2009 tour of Israel to highlight his criticism of Israel's controversial barrier surrounding the West Bank, calling it an “awful thing” amounting to a land grab and openly hoping that “it was destroyed soon.”
If you're going to involve yourself in politics, it's inevitable that people will accuse you of being involved in politics even when you don't intend to be.

There is a difference between disagreement with Israeli policies and actions and attributing all the evils of the Middle East to Israel's existence.

I leave it up to decent people to decide which side of the line Roger Waters is on. But its safe to say his politics compromises him as an artist.

One should keep out of controversy and just shut up and sing!

I don't think it is helpful to call this anti-semitism.

The ADL needs an overhall.

dear roger waters,

I saw at the tv all the things you said against israel and i have a question -
How man that didn't succeed live in peace with his own 3 friends at his own band - and tried to take the glory from his own band about the creation of "the wall"
- to himself and said that after all he could do that without them,
how a man like you can talk against the most peaceful country in this little world - israel?
a country that deals every day with 3 different and big religions - and do her best to create peace in her land.

maybe you can lie to the world but you can't lie to me - a man who serve his peaceful country- israel, and by commands did the best he could to not hurt innocent people!

if you are not a thief and you are really the one who really create "the wall" - how it could be you didn't create other beautiful album as "the wall" after your Quarrel with your band when you was alone...?
how?
if you are a peaceful person how it could be all your friends of your own band leave you? how?
you can't talk against my country about peace - you are not a peaceful person - you just talk about peace for your glory...

i know i'm discusting in english - but for discusting man like you - it's a gift to hear me...

my childwood based on the wall and you are the biggest Shame for the humanity - you are a theif and you look for glory at all...

Meir from israel...
